frank, no artistry on my behalf, image thieved from deviantart, colours by palleter script run on the image.
Thanks anyway, I find it soothing but will probably be bored in a bit and start the whole process over. :-)

@ 57kev, indeed on the nice scrot. I've been seeing a lot of the icons in status bar lately.

Thanks,
I do really like using I3, does not matter which distro I am playing with at the time I always end up with I3 as my preferred wm.
The icons help to stop the status line from consuming the bar so I understand the popularity.

Setting up i3 in OpenBSD, still have some work to do. i3status bloat, etc...

^ Especially a good Xresources file is missing there -- I know a bunch of elitist assholes who are quite into manga and anime, but they do awful Xcolors! ;)

^ Yes, and for some reason I can't get my changes to work on i3status. Never have a problem with this in any Linux.

^ Thanks! Actually, I decided to move from 5.4 > 5.5 snapshot, which uses the current i3wm (4.7.2), made my changes to i3status, and all is well. Now to work on Xcolors and sex it up a bit. :D

Then we had the same thought yesterday (night), because I tried to break my config with some older version config files (and succeeded). Good that you got it working, and also good to know how to circumvent problems in the future :)
