Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
^ you're the man. And that low RAM usage is the real treat.
Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
^ Yeah, full Xfce bloat, at 52MB of RAM! I was kinda shocked, really.
Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
^ IIRC, the almighty baconator once wrote something about this xfce lightness. But I'm too lazy to go looking for the right quote now.
Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
^ i think the quote was "Larry, you got a PM, please check"
All statements are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true and false and meaningless in some sense.

The results are in:bones wrote:^ Haha, perfect! New scrot pending my return tomorrow to work. For shits and giggles, I'm gonna do a Debian setup of the same nature, and see which one is quicker to set up. DebXP, if you will.
Debian was definitely quicker to set up, but Slackware wins for being able to print from Filemaker Pro. Although I could print from everywhere else in Debian, I couldn't get printing from FMP to work. And Slackware was noticeably faster overall. I may also try doing the same with Salix, as the setup would be faster than Slackware.

Excellent Gekko.
Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)

Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
wux, honestly, if I had such a lappy, I would probably try KDE4 on it (from siductions 'next' repos), just out of curiousity. It should run perfectly smooth on it.

Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
having a look at Xubuntu as a lot of at work people run it.
I'm biased - but I prefer arrogance really.
couldn't find half the things installed using the menu bar.
works pretty nice though, a bit heavy for this old lappy.

Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
Thanks, just numixed and a nice wall from the install.
main motivation was to replace windows vista, for the wife.
As vista had gone tits up a few times, her dad got a win 8 lappy (which he hates) so she got the old one.
Turns out I managed to clean vista up, to a working state and I couldn't be bothered with remote tech help, even linux style.
Shame as Xubuntu ran very nicely on the vista machine. I even got Picasa working with wine and she uses openoffice anyway.
