SlackXP (proposed) for here at work. Everything they will ever need: Filemaker Pro (via WINE), Firefox, Thunderbird, and LibreOffice.

^ Yeah.
Nice Bones, a start button, hehe and Win like windecs. They should not complain, even crap on the desktop. :)

Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
^ Exactly, everything they are used to using: Start button, file manager, trash, and apps on the desktop, WinXP window decor. Maybe I'll even find some generic XP-like wallpaper to throw on there, haha.
Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)

Here you go Bones:
Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
^ Haha, perfect! New scrot pending my return tomorrow to work. For shits and giggles, I'm gonna do a Debian setup of the same nature, and see which one is quicker to set up. DebXP, if you will.

I am not sure why, but I like windows lookalikes.
Here is another windows wallpaper:

Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
i think GUI-wise that Win7 for example isn't even bad. at least i like it a lot more than Apple's much-trumpeted GUIs. but of course, in the end, i just want a terminal and text :)

Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
I love my win7 work machine. 2 apps make it great, revolutionary split and an Xmouse hack to enable activate window on hover without raising it. For the work I do, my machine is set up pretty nice.

Re: Xfce (la souris/鼠標)
^ omg... you mean you have a way to do sloppy focus on Win7? seriously? i have been frustrated over the lack of this shit for some time now, and have not been able to find a way of doing it... so am i right in thinking that you can actually mouse over an unfocused window, leaving it unfocused (and thus, in Windows, unraised), and then using your scrollbutton on it?
ah, Google: http://douglaswhitaker.com/2012/09/focu ... n-windows/ - not perfect, but better!
