Quite nice, jules. Since Xresources is not read, did you just tweak the colors in Xfce Terminal preferences, or...?

would be doable, weird format for xfceterm

Code: Select all

ColorPalette=#333333333333;#9c9c35352828;#6161bcbc3b3b;#f3f3b4b43a3a;#0d0d6868a8a8;#747445456060;#28288e8e9c9c;#a2a2a2a2a2a2;#555555555555;#d6d649493737;#8686dfdf5d5d;#fdfdd7d75a5a;#0f0f7575bdbd;#9e9e5e5e8383;#3737c3c3d6d6;#f9f9f9f9f9f9
ColorForeground=#a2a2a2a2a2a2
ColorBackground=#000000000000
maybe he used a web app which exports terminalrc?

Thanks!

I simply edited the xfce4-terminal colours using the built in color picker. But yes, probably it is possible to simply move the color section of Xresources to ~/.config/xfce4/terminal/terminalrc as wux pointed out. Not really *very* weird, I guess a simple grep in combination with printf would give the right line that could be pasted into the terminalrc file :)

^ notice how they are double (repeated) hex. that's the weird bit, not too into writing a script for that... :)

Interesting, there is/was also the syntax
ColorPalette1=#ABC456
ColorPalette2=#DEF123
and I ask myself what it repeats ^^^there exactly? Colours for 'bold'?

The cool thing about XFCE4 is that they have excellent documentation.

Code: Select all

${XDG_CONFIG_DIRS}/xfce4/terminal/terminalrc
    This is the location of the configuration file that includes the preferences which control the look and feel of Terminal.
Seriously, that's all you can find about it online. And not just on some random blog, this is their own "advanced" documentation: http://docs.xfce.org/apps/terminal/advanced

Ah anyway I switch to something else :D

Thanks, that's drew actually :)

Took me 2 hours to get XFCE4 running without any consolekit, polkit, dbus, systemd and Thunar... like in the good old days. Sounds like there'll be Proof Revisited (greetings to Pidsley!) ;)

You know I will install it! I think I still have the old Proof on a test machine. I should see if it will update...

Yeah sounds good Pidsley, would also like an update of Proof32 I much prefer xfce over lxde and the BBQ way makes xfce just as minimal anyway downloading Proof and will play as well.

That looks great. Surprised you were able to get the ram use that low. I'd definitely give a new XFCE spin a run. Bottle that up and throw it to us.

Oh yes, please please please, make a new proof32

I guess you more educated ones can make the old proof update, but I could not, since... I think it was in june?

I don't know about "more educated" -- "more lucky" is more like it I think.

Last updated in April, after 466M (!) of updates today, with minimal user intervention.

It would be nice to have a new crap-free Xfce spin though. The pstree on this one is not pretty.
