Jewlels! One of the signs of a great leader is to trust those under him by delegating the things that they don't have time for to those that they trust.

Stark!!! Go find all the threads that you want to be in said thread, and make links to them with url tags in a new thread. I or someone else will be glad to sticky it for you. :)

1400+ posts shouldn't be too hard to nail down ;)

Oh that's easy honey!

http://linuxbbq.org/bbs/search.php?keyw ... mit=Search

http://linuxbbq.org/bbs/search.php?keyw ... mit=Search

http://linuxbbq.org/bbs/search.php?keyw ... mit=Search

In short:
- RAM: changing the init can shave off a tad
- RAM: using startx with xinitrc shaves off a LOAD compared to display managers
- RAM: using a WM is lighter than using a DE
- RAM: aterm < sterm < xvt < xterm < rxvt < libvte
- RAM: xlinks2 < dillo < webkit
- RAM: mpg321 < mpg123 < cmus < mocp < mpd
- RAM: TTY < framebuffer < X
- RAM/SPACE: compiling certain applications with disabling certain features will make them snappier
- SPACE: do not go gtk/qt if you can use console apps for the same task
- SPACE: sudo orphaner --purge will remove cruft (keep libjpeg* for framebuffer)
- SPACE: a WM without GTK/QT will not need icons

I am sure this list will grow if 'we' get more an more into details. And there's a lot.
Please quote if you add stuff.

Oh and of course I should link:

Excellent old school fun, chef. I always have to change the color of twm, first. The aquamarine makes me crazy. :O

^ I was feeling nostalgic after a fresh build ;) I was hunting around for my original Redhat 4.0 disc that came in a book learn linux in 24 hours. I think it should have said 24 years cause that was in 95 and I am still learning :)

BTW these are my more typical colors.

rust_collector asked about installing wireless on Szalonna, so of course I had to try it. I never have much luck with wireless, so I was suprised when it actually worked.

It only took installing firmware from Debian, a package or two from Arch, and several libraries from a running Debian system. :)
