Alright. We have seen Scrots of your Desktop and Now We want to see how you prepare it for Scrots ( LOL ).

Extra Neckbeard points for showing us how you work in that setup.

You can use this Screencast script by twily which uses ffmpeg to record your desktop in mkv then converts the output to webm and upload it to where ever you like, just don't forget to share the link ;)

Get the screencast script:
curl -s http://ix.io/g0o > screencast

You may use pomf for sharing your videos. Here's a nice script for uploading to pomf by jschilli:

Get poomf.sh:
wget http://ow.ly/I5xDh -O poomf.sh

OR

curl -s http://ix.io/g1l > poomf.sh

Usage:
poomf.sh -u desktop.webm

@kex Gifs are alright, but they are quite resource hungry ( requires more than 300mb to display one on chromium and a decent internet connection, though uzbl and netsurf can play gifs at a slower rate with 70-ish mb ram ). If you want, you can do it in Gif ( I will end up converting it webm via gfycat as I like to pause and play alot! )

Well, here's mine: http://a.pomf.se/biorga.webm

This is pretty much how I use my desktop, except I use 2 monitors when not gaming (and recording this). So desktop 1 is usually on the old 1280x1024 monitor with a broser/stream/video/movie/program open for testing, writing/editing shitty code on desktop 2, music on desktop 3, and Steam on 4. Then if I get to gaming, there's steam on 4, the game itself on 3 and Mumble on desktop 5. Depending on the game, there could be a browser on desktop 1 and MOC on desktop 2...

So as you can see, I don't really do much tiling, since the laptop's monitor isn't that big, and there's the old monitor next to it anyway. When I do tile though, I really like how it works in i3. Also loving how i3 handles multiple monitors, out of all the DEs/WMs I've tried, it's the best so far.

The introvim thing is a college project, sadly I was too lazy to think of a more interesting topic, but they don't read the content anyway, just the PHP code and the rest. Steam is super slow to start up as usual, but that is what I have on desktop 4 at all times, so yeah.

Wasn't sure where to upload (so I tried YouTube and it degraded the quality to shit), but pomf.se seemed like a pretty good option, since it doesn't look like they have a gallery of any sort, and the size limit is 50mb.

Very Nicely done kex! And very nice website. Extra neckbeard points for sup.cpp and tf2 ;)

I was going to recommend pomf to everyone but then I didn't want to impose any limit :)

I really had no clue what I am doing, probably should have at least staged something that looked important ;) I have been just playing with some compton and 2b bloat, tweaking my new homepage (thanks to stark introducing me to Twily) and torrenting some Bollywood in the backround to watch later (Ghajini to be exact).

http://a.pomf.se/mfvgtg.webm

P.S. I had no clue what I was going to do in Emacs, as I don't have anything pressing going on at the moment and I have no clue why I keep doing the little swirly motion with the clitmouse. I don't even notice I do it :D

Yes, it is Pentadactyl and I am using the Black Youtube by Panos with the YouTube custom video progress bar doo-hickey-thingie.

Edit: I should note that YouTube is in mobile mode in my webm.

@kex Have you watched any of jekor's videos on YouTube? His first couple of Emacs videos blew me away (as well as his Haskell ones!)

Thanks all for the nice words :D

I tweaked http://twily.info/homepage#Firefox (NSFW, if your boss/girlfriend/neighbors/guy-looking over-your-shoulder doesn't appreciate sexy ponies.)

Edit: Gekko ain't got no boss but himself.

Wow, I really like your setup kex ! Colors are nice, the font is nice, I am using i3 too so yeah, if one of us was a girl and i was your man we'd be happy together.
Yesterday I had to set up a quick alarm so I fired up a terminal and:

Code: Select all

>sleep 6m && mplayer ~/music/Fu\ Manchu/The\ Action\ Is\ Go/01\ Evil\ Eye.mp3
...so good taste in music too!

edit: What is your terminal font?
