Re: Screenshots
^ Thanks, they are great aren't they. Especially because Clarity takes up minimal space (much like ACYL) and fits both very light and dark backgrounds well.

Re: Screenshots
I actually have a pix of a most fabulous machine you will really like. I'll see if i can find it . . . back in a few hours with a result hopefully.

Re: Screenshots
Wow, thanks for this, mate! Two of my passions (retro + industrial design) come together there - that website is great, really!
Already grabbed my pic of the day:
(another two passions: the opposite gender and stringed instruments) :)
BTW, you can directly post screenshots on our server, under the text field there is "Upload attachment". Not as bothersome as copy-pasting and so on.

Re: Screenshots
oh this is awesome. those old photographs on the background work perfectly. may i suggest using one of them (if at all copyright-permitted) on a Linuxbbq release? it would look especially great on the latest Saltimbocca, as your screenshots show. but that makes sense as that one is the most beautiful <3 :)

Re: Screenshots
Yes, these sepia or black-white shots blend in nicely. I'm just afraid that I won't get permission to redistribute. The only thing I can do - and most probably will do - is to link to the website through a menu item (BBQ Menu -> Online Resources -> Wallpapers -> ....) which is what I wanted to do anyway for quite a long time.

Re: Screenshots
No you won't be able to use the images from Shorpy (bigger than 512 pixels wide or something).
There is some good news tho' - the images on Shorpy are almost exclusively doctored images from http://www.loc.gov/pictures/.
The images at the Library of Congress are potentially available for public use according to this document
http://www.loc.gov/rr/print/195_copr.html
. . . so use images at your discretion.
As an example:
The image of the mining machine I posted up is at the LOC in undoctored (I think the LOC image is actually better :) ) form
http://www.loc.gov/pictures/item/ncl2004000098/PP/
If you notice there is information pertaining to copyright on the right and clicking on the thumbnail shows a large version of the image.
So what you can do is, on finding an image you like on Shorpy, search for it at LOC (or alternatively cut out the middle man altogether and peruse the even hugererererer collection here.

Re: Screenshots
Thanks for the great post, gurtid - this was indeed very helpful. I am quite confident that - if we include something in a free Linux distro - it falls under Fair Use or Public Domain, depending on the piece of work. But anyway, the LOC link you posted is a goldmine. Thank you!

Oyester. There are so many to try, but still just spectrewm and i3. I really like the quick and easy tile to stack ability of i3 and that its keyboard, but also mourse driven.

Re: Screenshots
Nice! I like these two, too. Are these the desaturated Faenza icons from Waldorf?

Re: Screenshots
Thanks! They are the Awoken icon set. I used to really like Faenza, but not so much anymore.
