This is i3 added to my original Xfce install on this machine. So it is unbloated in the sense that there is no KDE4 that you get from a full Slackware installation, but not unbloated from Xfce/gtk.

nice frank.
i3 has totally sorted my workflow out at work, need a side by side webpage?
Tear off a tab. boom it's done, need a termwindow underneath to run some commands?
Two keycombos, boom.
although all that applies to most tilers, stackers look so messy now 8)

thanks gekkop and wux!
i3 it's been ages past since i touch that one, i love that tabbed layout

thanks! , the configs are a bit messy. 3 dzen panels on that scrot, which one would you prefer?
the left one is dzen2 script, the right one is conky piped to dzen , the middle one is baskerville's panel_dzen2

holy crap. I'm not sure. I have been thinking about a set up like that with clickable icons embedded. just a thought in progress.

Is it always that messy to get that stuff working?

I'm finding that I really like it quite a bit. Very fast, and very sane defaults, very intuitive for me, I don't feel like I need to change the defaults. I'm gonna dig deeper into the configs, though, to pretty it up a bit.

well , i've tried putting up a cool statusbar for bspwm written in plain C , but i guess it doesn't look nearly as pretty as this one right here

clickable icons? but wouldn't that be even more messy? i think someone like earsplit / windelicato almost got the same setup as mine albeit with lots of clickable thingy ( like bowtie on os x )
normally i just use one panel ( the middle one of course ) , other panels are just for scrot-ing purpose

I see. Yeah, earsplit is probably the definitive resource on this. No worries. It's one of those things you think you might want, spend time getting working, then ditch it. I'll look around, but might just let it fade out. bars are for sure bloat, and I have the cat in my pocket. depends on the mood I guess

Frank, that's a nice one. If you share the configs, I make a spin out of this, and you can pick a release name. No pressure :)

I'll tell you one thing that's good to get used to - did you choose WIN key or ALT for a mod key?
I found WIN is harder to hit, but ALT messes with a few apps key binds. I think tabs in FF and alt-left arrow for back in chrome.

dkeg and I have lovely confs in our githubs. (well mine is a rip of dkegs anyway)

I chose the ALT key. No keybind conflicts yet, but I haven't dug too deep so far. Yeah, I remembered that there were some good configs laying around somewhere, thanks!

will do and post later on thanks :)

EDIT: was headed there and took a zen detour. I really only have one color pattern and one font. I know boring but otherwise my eyes bleed :D

EDIT: wrong attachment
I missed this or had already viewed before you changed it. Very nice!
