@gslob
Forgot to comment on some of your latest dumps. I am particularly enjoying The Kicks, Karen Gwyer and Aurora Halal.
Still many I have to listen to, be patient ;-)

^ As long as you enjoy them. You don't really need to comment. I mentioned before that I'm using this thread as a pastebin of sorts anyway.

Re: Electronic sounds thread
If you're into the more intense side of techno, this site is mithril; http://aivazovskywaves.at.ua/
Discovered them yesterday. Their podcast section offers mixes in mp3, flac and wav, along with streaming via almost every service imaginable (some I didn't even know existed). To add to that, they offer a publication consisting of record reviews, features and interviews. Their forum has effectively zero people posting, they don't seem to have any sponsors, and I doubt they even receive donations. I have no idea how they manage to put up the stuff they do, but everyone else should be ashamed of themselves. This is how it's done!!

Re: Electronic sounds thread
Some recent purchases....
Micronism - Inside A Quiet Mind
I could write a thesis on the relevance of this album in the rave culture I grew up in prior to the turn of the millennium, but there's enough to get you started on the Bandcamp page. All I'll say is that my 12" of the reissue arrived a couple of days ago and I'm never, ever going to put a needle on it.
Pessimist (Self Titled)
Probably the best thing the Blackest Ever Black label has put out this year, and that's saying something when you look at their catalog.
Mallard - Verte
Rhythm Section. I've got a soft spot for this label. No idea why. They're output is just easy to like, I guess.
Kettenkarussell – Insecurity Guard LP
Giegling. Nuff said. Vinyl only. Still in stock at most of the regular sources (Hardwax, Phonica, Clone, etc).
Cabaret Recordings - Alien Family LP
Vinyl only. No digital/Bandcamp releases afaik, though you might find it on Spotify or an equivalent service, or Youtube (I just checked; try "Cabaret Recordings - Alien Family" as your search term). I've made it a point to buy everything this label puts out.

^ Out for shopping. Micronism and Pessimist both sounds already awesome from the previews. And the Giegling stuff, well, ya know.
Re: Electronic sounds thread
Ok, Pessimist is INCREDIBLE. Let me absorb it this weekend, then I move on to Micronism and Kettenkarusell.
Re: Electronic sounds thread
More of a rant, than a real contribution.
Just for kicks, I went back to a website I used to write for years ago. Just wanted to check if it's still alive. It is, actually, albeit with a different name.
I remember getting sick of writing about music because I didn't feel capable of writing at length about records. Hardly going beyond pure taste and emotions didn't qualify me as a serious music critic, so I stopped.
I've always felt pretty much nobody on the website was really a good writer. Someone better than me, but the fact that I didn't read the reviews speaks volumes. Years later, they still write the same way, so I got bored pretty quickly.
To my surprise, they write about electronic music too now. When I was there, we raved about Burial and Aphex Twin, but we were more into rock. I checked the forum, checked the electronic music topic. As I guessed, none of the names the good gslob shares here with us appear in that topic. I spotted Micronism, but only because Resident Advisor talked about it recently.
Few recurring names : Ben Frost, Andy Stott, Oneohtrix Point Never, Flying Lotus, William Basinski.
It feels pretty much they are still heavy on Pitchfork and Resident Advisor with little to no interest in trying to look for something different. And this just confirms I did the right thing when I left that place.
It also confirm I am learning more about music here in Linux forum than ever before. Thanks guys.
/end rant

Re: Electronic sounds thread
The problem lies with two human flaws;
1. The pathological need to objectify everything that's subjective.
2. The superficial need to feel like we belong somewhere.
We try to put a score on everything, and at the same time compromise those scores with the need to conform to the scores of others.

Re: Electronic sounds thread
^ and there is a mega fuck ton of sounds out there. I barely have time to listen to a few of the tracks on skip through. let a lone browse mixcloud, soundcloud, bandcamp et al EDIT: Jeez even when I had time to burn I didn't listen to all that much stuff (internet was yet young in those days) recommendations came from friends - and here it still does :D
I like Pessimist. reminds me of the old dark core jungle a bit.

Re: Electronic sounds thread
^^ Yes, yes, YES. As if criticism can be reduced to a score.
Anyways, cleaning the house while listening to Pessimist. Fun times.

Re: Electronic sounds thread
A few more purchases that arrived this past weekend. Just thought I'd share...
Skee Mask - Shred
An album I purposely ignored till I got the 12" version in my hands. Finally arrived after more than a year's wait (via a friend that visited, along with the others listed below), and boy was it worth the wait. Possibly one of 2016's finest albums. Vinyl's officially sold out with no repress in sight, but digital available on Bandcamp.
Skee Mask - ISS 002
Continuing the Skee Mask trip, here's his latest EP released this month, also on Ilian Tape. There's a track in the Shred album that's called Panorama which I felt he wouldn't ever top, but then he went and came out with Routine on this release. Fuck!!
Disktopia F/W 2016-2017 Free Compilation (Free)
Disktopia is a label based in Japan that mainly does synth/glitch/wave (from artists all over the world). The release I recently got isn't the one linked above, but I figured their last compilation would make for a better introduction, though it's a tad poppy in places for me. One of the owners is an acquaintance of mine, so maybe there's a little bit of bias here. Either way, it's a free/name-your-price release, so knock yourselves out.
Shinichi Atobe - From the Heart, It's a Start, A Work of Art
Ah, Shinichi Atobe, techno's most revered mystery man-out-of-time; he made stuff that predated current day subgenre conventions almost 20 years ago, yet no one knows who he is even today. The few that have managed to locate him - like the fine blokes of Demdike Stare - just get a back catalog of crackly acetate plates (he probably digs up old stuff simply to make them stop spamming his inbox) which they then go on to remaster. Yes, remastering of a frickin dubplate - joke of the century. These "remasters" then get pressed in limited quantities and usually sell out within a day, leading to crazy price speculation everywhere. I'd probably be more pissed about all this if his output wasn't so bloody gorgeous. Vinyl officially out of stock. Digital available from the link. Check Youtube for previews.
Microlith - Subtle Variance EP
Died way too young, this lad. I have a feeling his work will appreciate (both in price and recognition) as time goes on. He made some of the subtlest acid-tinged electro this decade. Only fitting that his last EP was released on Sheffield's Central Processing Unit label.
Jack Roland - Dream Technology EP
Frankly, only got this for the first track because it harkens back to the LSD/Goa-era rave scene. Turns out the rest of the EP is pretty decent as well, though the third track annoys me. Milan's UN.T.O is a pretty varied label though. Might wanna check out their other releases.
Etapp Kyle - Alpha EP
Spacey, brooding techno from Ukraine's finest. Released on Ostgut Ton (Berghain) so production values are obviously decent. Nothing ground-breaking, and frankly it's the kind of stuff that would work better within the realms a mix.

^ Tracking down Skee Mask, for starters, never heard of him.
