let's do it!
Mute Speaker does awesome beats, and you can grab his album for a pay-what-you-want thing:
http://mute-speaker.bandcamp.com/
Prefuse 73 fucking with his MPC in awesome ways:
[yt]0TZ1Z3y9sog[/yt]
and some sick beats and Dutch rap. for those who can understand the lyrics: yes, they are as weird as those beats and that albumart :)

You know me I'm oldskool 8)

(embed doesn't like start from...)
that atmosphere...
UltraMags. Kool Keith.

one of the beats I haven't tracked down yet.
on a kool keith tip, much slept on:
[yt]qLCn6-_kb74[/yt]
Sampled on the CoFlow album up there.
dropped this as a first track on a reggae system (they were my turntables) in retrospect bit dark for that crowd, one guy did come up to me and thought it was amazing, and this bass on a reggae rig
was amazing

No better way to start my hip-hop postery than with a Frenchman.... wait what!!
[yt]2aqb93B9FR8[/yt]
People always wear that "J Dilla changed my life" T-shirt, which could be true. Dilla was a great producer. But to me, admittedly a late developer with regards to appreciating hip-hop, it was this guy who truly opened me up to hip-hop's sensibilities. R.I.P Nujabes.

^ I like that, better than jazzamatazz I suppose.
Sometimes I like it simple and hard:

I suppose one could cross-post these in the electronic thread as well, or even the jazz thread, but they're still primarily hip-hop acts.

Focus on some aspects:
Scratches by DJ Revolution:

Ok you can say the turntable is not an "instrument".
But I think it is - the energy, technique and study put into it is comparable to the greatest of other instruments.
http://youtu.be/vQF2wZrYeg0?list=PLzWv5 ... _XZ3pMWf5U
Sounds kinda weird - amazing what can be done with just two turntables - one take, no studio shit.
