Found this rather sinister violin track. But brilliant, and it makes me relax for some reason.
Rwo, think you will like this one, well and ofc. other fellow comrad grillers :)

^^the Tartini is certainly moving.

i'll be listening for hours, thanks guys.

i tend to prefer chamber music...smaller ensembles. ever since reading Kafka on the Shore, i've been interested in piano trios. Heifetz, too.

and Tchaikovsky, the fucker, only did one piano trio...and it had to be so damn good!

this is one of my overall favorites. even though my sister was a professional ballerina, i was never able to see it performed live until college. they had to bring in a dancer from the American Ballet Theater, because the piece is so frantic, i think it would break a student.

Arensky and Glinka did some pretty solid trios, as well. if you can find it, the Oistrakh Trio plays Russian piano trios is a great collection.

Carl Friedrich Abel - German composer / bad ass on the viola da gamba

The lady playing facial expression is worth the view.
She's kinda got a hair lip, maybe it's like an Elvis Presley thang.
No disrespect though she is a beautiful performer.

^ Wow, that is pretty impressive. I have a great respect for classically trained musicians... quite a bit of blood, sweat, and tears!

I suppose this might fit into Classical Music. I didn't notice a thread for choral works! This is one of my "go-to" albums in my library when I am wanting to chill out/study.

Agnus Dei: Music of Inner Harmony - The Choir of New College Oxford, recorded back in '97.

^^^love the da gamba.

this one is a bit of a genre jumper. The Goat Rodeo Sesssions was one of my favorite albums, when it was released. Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Thile (mandolin virtuoso), and a couple of great bass and violin players, to round out the group. they also use da gamba (smaller versions) in some of the other pieces on the album.

^^^^rhowaldt, if you like the Goat Rodeo Sessions, you may like some of Ma's other works in that vein. Appalachian Journey and Appalachian Waltz were both done in a similar vein. Joshua Bell also did some similar work, called Short Trip Home.

^i believe a similar Tartini piece was posted earlier in this thread. it has me addicted.

siklopz Chris Thile is awesome. This is part of a Bach documentary Michael Lawrence did. There was a Bela Fleck and Edgar Myers interview too.

Herbert von Karajan conducted Beethoven's symphonies at least 3 times for album release. Each time he either changed the location (1963: Jesus-Christus-Kirche, Berlin, 1977/1982: Berliner Philharmonie) or the artists and fine-tuned the arrangements. Here's an excellent video that helps comparing these versions using the First Movement of the 5th symphony as example.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIO7IeUFVyg

by the way, it's his 1985 version of the the 9th symphony, 4th Movement that is quite famous in the European Union, as it was officially elected as anthem.
