Hillbilly music.

Unread post by DebianJoe » Mon Nov 24, 2014 5:44 pm

Bluegrass, Ozark Folk, Hoe Down...post that roadkill!

One of my personal favorite albums, as I'm a hillbilly...and this is heavier than lots of metal in a way.

@DJ: wow, that Left Lane Cruiser reminded me of this, which is decidedly not hillbilly, or maybe Scandinavian hillbilly or something - whatever. still hear a lot of the same vibe, and the dudes even look alike a bit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAWiQDHC_qo

Interesting setup - nice "foot snare"... did they not trust the tambourine guy to play the drums?

Oh my crosspost contribution:

Eric Weissberg - Shuckin' The Corn

I am ashamed I have met these guys before. Moreover, I do not doubt the truthfulness of this beautiful, poetic peice of American folk. 'Murica. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEdWR36w0D4

Really enjoyed the story, I thought the poetry was better than the singing though :)

^ Woohoo! So, I have been to a couple of music festivals in Stillwater, Oklahoma (delightful town) and was exposed to the regional variation on country known as Red Dirt (if you have ever been to North Oklahoma, you would know why).

Bob Childers - Desert Flower
Red Dirt Rangers - Where the Arkansas River Meets Oklahoma [LIVE]
Cody Canada - Cold Hard Fact [LIVE] <-- this guy has some strange stuff; I think he even performed at SXSW, IIRC.
Cody Canada & The Departed - The Ballad of Rosalie [LIVE]
Jason Boland - Dark & Dirty Mile [LIVE]
