Classic Rock (1973)
It was a good year. A lot of debut albums, for example
Aerosmith: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SA8ygmB6Ay0 -- quite standard rock & roll, nothing exciting IMO, but still enjoyable.
Queen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Inop1AfWBKU -- actually recorded over 2 years in studio off-time. Not the best sound quality, and quite sluggish.
Not really a classic rock album, but honorary mention for Billy Cobham's Spectrum: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H4gfJaYqZY for being the heaviest jazz album ever recorded (IMO).
The last album in their (so-called) best line-up is Deep Purple's Who Do We Think We Are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XztMu0jObvQ -- personally I find the following 3 albums better, but wtf :)
Nazareth, Loud n proud: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LKQsSvGHf8
Want some pictures? Maybe a live show? Led Zeppelin, The Song Remains The Same: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay_--ypIOHM
REO Speedwagon, this song got into the Billboards around 8 or 9 years after its release. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTBv4kAdk_w
Classic Rock has a name: Bad Company. This is their 1973 production: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VY7gWaDE0Co
I bet you haven't heard of Greenslade yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GI4gTPXRfw
Nektar anyone? It's just one song, so... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bf0x9fOULs ;)
Golden Earring did really make some good albums, at least not worse than Slade or T.Rex or so :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCUNFvkLF9k
Something smoother for the Country lovers ;) Marshall Tucker Band, Can't You See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiSaiSbrQkE
Some blues to finally fall asleep: Mountain, Get Out Of My Life Woman (Live, it is indeed 1973) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aBP4Q33laA
Oh fuck, there's a big fuckload of albums released in 1973. Share them :)

Wow. Loving this section.
Re: Classic Rock (1973)
Thought I'd share some of my favourites as well (not all strictly 'classic rock' in the hardest sense):
Dark Side of the Moon, of course: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnnwE0taOMc
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Next: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfQF3coRPo4
Blue Öyster Cult - Tyranny And Mutation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKHZOto464A
David Bowie - Aladdin Sane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZj-ibB1ivA
Frank Zappa - Over-nite Sensation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSsRTuXfAUc
Genesis - Selling England By The Bound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Rn9tzirks4
The Who - Quadrophenia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JIQJc8WU7U
I guess Stooges' Raw Power isn't fitting, or King Crimsons Larks' Tongues In Aspic.

Re: Classic Rock (1973)
Thanks for the list tenkainen. Of course 'classic Rock' is not a classifier for 'early hard rock', but everything that is harder than the Beatles, Bee Gees or The Monkees :D
Nice selection!

Re: Classic Rock (1973)
1973 saw the release of what is one of my favorite "progressive rock" albums: Air Cut by Curved Air. Eddie Jobson was 18 years old when he played electric violin and keyboards on this album -- he would go on to play with Jethro Tull, Frank Zappa, Roxy Music, UK, and Yes, and to also create several solo albums.
Speaking of Roxy Music, their album For Your Pleasure came out in 1973.
King Crimson released Lark's Tongues in Aspic in 1973.
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer released Brain Salad Surgery in 1973. I saw them perform this live in Cleveland Stadium.
Yes released Tales from Topographic Oceans, their last album with keyboardist Rick Wakeman, in 1973.

Re: Classic Rock (1973)
^ Oh yes. Fantastic. Some people might remember Lemmy (Motörhead) was one of the founders of Hawkwind IIRC.
Re: Classic Rock (1973)
I love Hawkwind's "Down Through the Night" -- I "borrowed" Doremi Fasol Latido from my older brother and practically wore it out.

Re: Classic Rock (1973)
^ Now I am really impressed. :)
Re: Classic Rock (1973)
Hawkwind just feel the taste of that name on the tongue....but got a couple of other nice albums from that year. Both from Wales, first out is Budgie "Never Turn Your Back On A Friend". Ooooh the guitar...and then the ehmm spcial voice of Burke Shelley, love or loathe :D

And of course Man with "Back Into The Future", for those who like their take on a little psychedelia thrown into the rock and roll.

^ "budgie" and "more woman" in a single post? echoes of Miss Marlow ;)
