Disney

Unread post by rhowaldt » Fri Aug 28, 2015 2:47 am

yes, i did.
sure, i could've made a thread about anything that is related to musicals, but i don't know that much about those so will leave that to somebody else (anyone? :). however, i do know at least something about Disney music, and during a recent trip to Disneyland Hong Kong i found myself nearly in tears over some of these tracks and the memories and emotions they evoked, so i'd say, any music that evokes shit is good music. so there you go, my reasoning for this thread that might, for some, lean to close to the whole "Brony" thing, but i dont care, i love some of this stuff. perhaps some of you will agree, if only because you have kids, or just because you used to watch this shit as kids.

so first of all, Frozen. i really dislike that "Let it go" song, think the singing is so overly powerful and the song seems created more for its pop-sensibility than being a properly integrated part of the film, which, i think, kinda defeats the purpose of a Disney song. however, there is another one that is integrated fucking awesomely, and it is the other 'hit', "do you wanna build a snowman". if you're a doubter, do yourself a favour and watch the video that comes with it. i love how the song tells the story of the core relationship in Frozen, which is the relationship between Anna and Elsa, and it is wonderfully emotional and, well, fuck it, it made me cry to see that scene because it is beautiful. so there you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-zXT5bIBM0

will leave other films for now cause i am curious to see what others will post :)

yes, bear necessities is fantastic. the other song in there is of course "I wanna be like you", which was done by Louis Prima and his band. check out this cool video about it to see more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rV8HrpOu1FA

indeed the classics are great, but instead of doing an entire first post with all the good shit and not leaving anything for you guys to post, i decided to keep it with a single track in this case :)

Oh boy. These constituted the majority of my first 10 or so years of my life :D

The nutty opening to Robin Hood comes into my mind at the most inopportune time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJog7PfkNRY

And of course "Oo De Lally" ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcGU8OUXCDE

And then one that most people don't seem to recognize but a personal favorite - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_ijNWipYIU

^ 0_0 I never thought of the hamster dance in light of the Robin Hood intro.
