This arrived: https://www.discogs.com/record-stores/

Hence, I placed an order for a couple of records at my favourite store here. I know, it's not via Discogs, but still supporting the indenpendent stores like early 2000s (which is when I got my first salary and I actually started buying records for real).

Either I'm comprehending your post wrong or you failed to provide the links to the actual "couple of records" you ordered.
Was your intention to showcase the directory feature? Sorry, I.R.Confused

^ Oh no, nothing like that. It's just that discogs newsletter contained that link which defines June as Independent Record Store Month so I took it as hint to buy some vinyls. :)

A new song from Mars Volta, "Blacklight Shine".

^ I'm not sure I really want to dig into it. I remember fondly At The Drive-In and the first EP and two records from Mars Volta. They are some of the few records from my youth that survived the big selling of old stuff I did when we moved here. But I also remember that after Frances The Mute they lost something to my ears, and I was never able to appreciate anything they did after that.

I'll wait for someone braver than me to tell me if it's worth it. :)

^ For me it stops even shorter, at De-Loused In The Comatorium. I still rate that album very highly, but everything Mars Volta made after (that I've heard) seemed either too disjointed or self-indulgent, or just plain crap. I think it was simply a matter of line-up chemistry during that recording period. The drummer and efx guy (who died before the album got released, iirc) were probably a factor in of why I like De-Loused so much. Probably the guest musicians as well (like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers duo). It just had this abstract, almost spacey afro/latin jazz-esque groove/bounce to it that was utterly unique. Even typing this makes the drum work from that album swirl around in my head.

^ Yes, De-Loused was pretty special. I think I even have the booklet with all the story behind it somewhere.

This song is weirdly growing on me, will give the album a shot, if not for nothing else than for old times sake. They were for me one of very few interesting bands after the year 2000.

Favorite is "Frances The Mute".

And another new from Mars Volta "Graveyard Love"

I am not completely sure of what to do with these new songs, but they are slowly growing on me. They both got the Mars Volta vibe for me, so maybe it is just that.

Actually, the man at the store was not able to get one of the records, so Discogs to the rescue. :)

Not sure which thread this would fit into. Equal parts experimental electronic and Balinese Gamelan. An acquired taste, but probably my record of August;

Multi-genre, so posting here. Last of Resident Advisor’s anniversary mixes. I loathe to prop RA (because they’re unnecessarily woke) but they’ve done a great job with this series of mixes.

Recently rediscovered this LP. The first track was, for reasons I cannot remember, sort of background music of my childhood; https://favoriterecordings.bandcamp.com/album/arian

Btw, that Bandcamp label is a treasure trove of re-issues.
