10cc - odd band - did a lot of 'pop-y' stuff, but I saw them live a couple of times and the were pretty damn good.

I think it was the same guy (I may, or may not, have been out of my head), beat juggling and rapping at the same time. Now that was good showmanship!

Yep, same guy. Never saw him, cause he's never been in Italy as far as I know. But Italy doesn't care about good music, so whatever.

Though I mainly listen to jazz, this is my favorite rock band.

Johnny Guitar Watson-Funk Beyond The Call Of Duty
goes back a few years, but no worse for that:

But what I really wanted to post was a radio station. (Is there another thread for them?)
24 hours South Indian classical music. Maybe sounds odd after rock & roll, but get used to it...

Might be good stuff to write code to.

I'm not that much into fusion. But I like something like Weather Report or Miles Davis electric albums (On the Corner in particular). I'll give DiMeola a try.

Thanks wux - I'll install mpg123 and make sure that stream works OK. Check out the radios there, and maybe post a couple more.

^ no i listen to classical music! currently in a New World Symphony phase (Dvorak), but hit me with some Mozart anytime. Prokofiev is great too, and of course Chopin, Rachmaninov and my dear Wagner, who was Hitler's favorite composer as well (coincidence???)

I like Elgar if that counts.
saw the Proms the other night, saw some opera with subtitles for the first time, there's a classic piece sung by a tenor, sounds very romantic, the words are something like, 'don't be tempted by women - it'll end in trouble, they're silly things with heads in the clouds' etc...
wifes comment 'hmpf i prefered it *not* knowing the words...'

Yep, Rachmaninov ftw. I love Mahler. Cello by Bach, yummie. Mendelssohn, anybody? Of Richie I have enough, his grave is here. Liszt also lived here.

re: classical.

I met my wife when she was the executive director of the state symphony where we are. I love classical, primarily Chopin. So much feeling in his pieces, especially Op9. No. 2...love it.

^ I'm more of a Franz Liszt fan, personally. He was a bit more ... uhm... crack.

Was really into classical music as a kid, while I was starting out with the piano. Then I changed teachers and got introduced to jazz. There was something about the varying time signatures and altered meters that just swayed me more into that particular direction.

Speaking of crackhead musicians, on the classical side I'm mostly revisiting Paganini's stuff these days, particularly Itzhak Perlman's renditions. The guy's a frickin beast!! Gustav Mahler is another fave (high fives Ivanov and iMBeCil) . Then there's Mozart, though I'm more into his light divertimenti pieces.
