I am missing a plugin :( I played guitar and sang in a band called Arson back in the 80's.
We did a battle of the bands deal in Texarkana,TX with another band from my town called Mantis. We all got our clocks cleaned by this new band out of Dallas called Pantera, lols.
Back then they were doing Judas Priest and Black Sabbath covers, but they cut loose with some of their original stuff as well. Darrell's solo was absolute wickedness!
I miss those days :(

Such an energetic band, yes.

When Metallica died, Pantera was born.

Still my fave song.

That opening lick! I went home and played that lick til my fingers bled screaming,"Why couldn't I have thought of that??"
Lols! The last time I met him was at the strip club he co-owned with Vinny in Dallas. Crazy!
He was so down-to-earth, and at the same time he was so damned talented!
RIP, Darrell :(
I know that Vinny is doing great stuff with Hell Yeah! and Phil still has his multi-band thing going on, but I have lost track of Rex (the bassist). I have to go a ddg'ing!

Start packing your can of dip, grab your mossy oak ball-cap, and jump in the pickup.... some Southern Hardcore/Metal.

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster (MSD) - "Waiting On My Deathbed"
Down - "Lifer"
MSD - "Step Up (I'm On It)"
MSD - "Darkest of Kin"
Banjo cover of Metallica - "Battery"

Edit: And I forgot my personal favorite, MSD's "Tales of the Runaways"

I'm a sucker for prog metal.

The Great Escape from Seventh Wonder is based on the Aniara SciFi poem from (Nobel laureate) Harry Martinson.

For those who loves albums that are actually one story another one. Mercy Falls

Oh and perhaps obvious, the singer is the same as the 'new' guy from Kamelot.

^^ You're welcome Dr_Chroot.

Lesser known are the guys from Adagio (not the Brasilian band, but the French one formed by Stephan Forté).
The first two albums are neo-classical or prog metal, whatever they want to call it.

Sanctus Ignis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xgs6gT0 ... FE8A44B2ED

Underworld: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_xY6xNYnP4

Dominate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7s4ZbfBIxU

Archangels in Black: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRzhFWN ... 0D0441F981

After these 4 studio albums, Adagio founder and guitarist Stephan Forté did some solowork.

The latest album (Enigma Opera Black) can't be (fully) found at youtube.
But there are some songs available.

Post-black metal that isn't quite as cheery sounding as Alcest : https://artofpropaganda.bandcamp.com/album/refugium

An ever mind-expanding trip into the psychedelic space-themed black metal that's just as barren, desolate, and void as Pluto's northern pole : https://oranssipazuzu.bandcamp.com/

Another Finnish psychedelic rock that has been my personal favorite since their first album : https://jessandtheancientones.bandcamp. ... rius-tapes

A progressive instrumental Post (Rock/Metal) band (musically sounds like when Russian Circle fucks God is An Astronaut) from Singapore: https://ineachhandacutlass.bandcamp.com/

Post Rock band, Emma Ruth Rundle's side project (Don't know how i miss this one last year) : https://marriagesmusic.bandcamp.com/album/salome

The old black metal band turned electronic/ambient recently shifted their gear towards droning psychedelic sounds : https://ulver.bandcamp.com/album/atgclvlsscap

The Italians came back with a similar theatrics and style of execution as Greek's Septicflesh or Rotting Christ. A bit too refined for my taste : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67pJg8dsPcs
