Phil Anselmo. You are quite right about him, Rho! He is the epitome of in-your-face vanity, smh. The deluded man who killed Darrell Abbott blamed him for breaking Pantera up. Darrell and Vinnie (brothers) founded Pantera in Dallas along with Rex Brown (bassist). Anselmo was a vocalist from New Orleans. Anselmo was always running off to front other bands, start other projects, etc. Like he was Satan's gift to Metal. He ultimately broke Pantera.
I love Pantera for the music. Darrell was a phenom. I met him when he was 16 at a battle of the bands deal in Texarkana, AR, when I was singing for Arson. Our guitarist was a polished studio vet, and this 16 year old kid just blew us all away :) And his brother is a monster on drums! Vinnie's new band, Hellyeah! is doing pretty good!
But man, you are so right about Anselmo! And I'll even give you the American atitude. Because there really is such a thing. And Phil Anselmo is the poster child for said affliction, lols.

That might be true and I would even agree with Rhow about this kind of American sounding but hell, Anselmo was so great in Pantera. Metal that kicks in your face, yeah you need some special attitude for this. :) Oh and the drumming of Vinnie, exceptional. He was one of my idols when I played drums. Groovy mid tempo double bass in your ass.

Haha. My hair back then was not long, it is longer now and when I quit playing in a band because of university I had finally long hair, Hendrix style.

He has attitude and he can actually sing. He backs his bravado up, for sure. But the band jumping did actually finish them, although I have to retract the motive behind that deranged killer's actions. The police thought originally that Darrell/Damageplan was targeted because of the Pantera breakup, but there had been a feud between the killer and the band for some time over allegations that Darrell had stolen one of his songs. There had been another altercation between Gale (the murderer) and Darrell at an earlier Damageplan show.
My hair only gets cut when I have to appear in court, lols. It's been a while. :)

I got sent home in grade 3 in 1971 for bringing Black Sabbath - Paranoid to school to play for our weekly music share. My teacher played my request for Iron Man and had a shitfit. We had just listened to Sugar Sugar by the Archies and I Think I Love You by the Partridge Family and then it was time for my choice. The old bat crapped her knickers and sent me to the office and then I had to go home.

Seen so many metal bands over the years but good to see some of the older metal bands mentioned in this thread as well as a bunch of 80's and Christian bands.

It's a little late but my favourite Christmas song covered by August Burns Red used for a light show on a house. Don't watch if you're epileptic.

^ Who doesn't like Devin Townsend? everybody likes SYL :)

Saw him live a few years back during Ziltoid promo, the guy is a beast. His live sets are amazing, and fun. Of course, all of his other projects are worth checking out.
Well... except those with Steve Vai.

^ Tbh, nothing he did matches City for me. I like Terria a lot, but City is from another planet.

Devin Townsend is a good friend of my younger sister. I met him once at a Nettwerk Record party. Canadian metal! My younger sister worked for Nettwerk Records as VP of International until she recently retired.

I think Bones mentioned Queensryche before. One of my favourite 80's metal bands. I saw them 4 times in Japan, several times in Vancouver and once in Seattle. Geoff Tate's voice was amazing live. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YklSwADBOkg

I love Queensryche and W.A.S.P.! I saw Queensryche after they released The Warning. They opened for Quiet Riot along with a Texas band named Axe.
Blackie Lawless is the coolest dude ever! My favorite W.A.S.P. song is still Animal, but DB Blues and Blind in Texas come in close second and third.
Loving some Armored Saint, Savatage, and Helmet as well!
And what do you think about Queensryche's "new" singer? And their new music?
I kind of liked Tate's Frenquency Unknown with Queensryche (B), and I am glad they finally settled all that!
He gets to keep the Operation: Mindcrime I & II, which is just right since those were his creations.

Haven't heard the new Queensryche yet. Helmet, especially the song Unsung, is great. Is it just me or does the singer sound a bit like Ozzy Osbourne in this song? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBfygUiS50g

He does! I loved their gritty, hard driving music. Separated them a bit from the other Grunge acts. Still dig me some AiC and early Soundgarden, though :)

Not sure if Dokken has been mentioned before, but Kiss of Death is quite enjoyable:

Depends how well Megadeth is taken here (probably my favorite band), but they recently released a new album, so here's one of the songs, "The Emperor":

Wow, blast from the past. I saw Dokken open for Judas Priest back in the mid 80's.
