Is it the installer at fault then, or the size of stuff?
...oh.

The more files (and the larger) the longer it takes to copy stuff. If you have multiple partitions, the GRUB configuration takes longer time, too.

when checking the sources.list.d folder i found this;

Code: Select all

deb http://repo.mate-desktop.org/debian wheezy main
is it a leftover from some previous grilling, or is it for something special?

^ Good question. Could be of course that some apps are pulled from there?

It is there for compatibility with the zenity tool that is replaced by mate-dialog and shaves off around 20MB of install size. Mate-dialog is a symlink to zenity, and zenity is removed because it relies heavily on other packages, while MATE has managed to split it off. I have started to replace zenity with yad and need to rewrite a few things (like the BBQsys tool which now uses yad, and others like the GUI for bbqinstaller that is still using zenity)

BTW this is one of the reasons why the 64-bit Trollinger is even smaller than the 32bit version.

Is that something I can comment out or do I need to leave it in. Because if I need to leave it in I get a gpg key error.

Thanks Kelean.

Hey, peeps. Just thought you should know that downloading Trolli(32) from the main "Base Releases" page doesn't work; the file 'finishes' downloading but it's only 76 mb or so.

Welcome! How about a little wget action. Try

Code: Select all

wget http://linuxbbq.org/releases/LXDE/linuxbbq-trollinger.iso

Work hard; Complain less

@zengrapefruit: Welcome to the BBQ. The problem is known, it happens when parallel connections to the server are started. Try using wget or uget as suggested by dkeg, or any other download manager that does not start parallel connections.

Hopefully we can move the Base Editions to other servers in the near future. Mostly a question of funding :)

Bumping this to general attention.

Seems that Trollinger will enjoy an upgrade to sync to the recent version numbers in the next days. Should anything be added or left out, please post it here. Thanks!

Just put this on my HP Pavillion. Awesome spin. A couple of things:

- I set keyboard layout Italian in live-installer, but now it is English
- the button at far right of lxpanel is supposing to prompt me the Log Out screen but it is not working
- cannot open Main Menu entry, I click on it in the menu and nothing happens
- upg messed lightdm, cannot start X anymore so I re-installed and avoided upg so far

Trollinger is outdated. Go for "Coal" instead.
