Trollinger (LXDE) Release Notes
LinuxBBQ LXDE “Trollinger” (i686) — December 19, 2012
The team is proud to present “Trollinger”, a LinuxBBQ flavour with LXDE as desktop environment and Openbox as window manager. “Trollinger” is best suited for tinkerers, fetishists, bachelors, alcoholics and those who are not afraid of Debian Sid. If you are searching for a full-featured, bloated, shiny spin, please move on: If you use “Trollinger” your wife will leave you and innocent kitteh will end up as shashlik or cevapcici. Back to topic: the base edition comes with small memory footprint and works well on older hardware (686 instruction set required). Kernel 3.7-1-towo, roasted with love, LXDE 4+ on top, garnished with Openbox 3.5, PCManFM as File Destroyer, Iceweasel to browse your favourite memes, Leafpad to write ransom letters, and Deadbeef as noise player. Still with me? Download!

Re: Trollinger Release Notes
LXDE is really nice...
I have had more consitent UI results using say xfwm4 or metacity as the WindowManager. Maybe it was due to a GUI app that allowed me to set the themes that made it easier?
....
Anyway great job... I don't see where you find the time ;)

Re: Trollinger Release Notes
Right, hinto - we previously used Compiz, but it weighs a bit too heavy and is not so easily customizable (anymore). Trollinger is just a by-product, to have LXDE covered, too :)
Thanks for the comment!

Re: Trollinger (LXDE) Release Notes
The differences are:
- LightDM is installed in this one
- networking via network-manager
- Iceweasel is the default browser
- a few new BBQ tools (nothing serious)
- LXDE as base, so you get lxsession for session management and the lx-tools (lxpolkit, lxterm, ...)
- kitteh will be processed to minced meat if you use this one (should be motivation enough)
- it's a hint easier to set up/maintain than Bocca or Cargot

Re: Trollinger (LXDE) Release Notes
Excellent!
Really nice on the live cd.
I am considering this for my new rig.
Just one question...
I remember from an earlier BBQ release I had some problems adding a new user.
Is there an option in the present installer to add a new user and password?
Keep up the great work!

Re: Trollinger (LXDE) Release Notes
Hi Neil,
yes, the issue has been resolved after version 0.3 with the new installer. You can set the timezone, keyboard layout, partitioning and username/password/hostname inside the graphical installer (LXDE main menu -> System tools -> Install LinuxBBQ)
Have fun!

Re: Trollinger (LXDE) Release Notes
this looks really sweet mb. And as previously mentioned, where do you find the time. My wife will not be happy when I tell her I have to 'work late' again.
No, seriously, this may need to be dd'd and taken for a spin.

Of course... I have to ask...
64-bit?
Just fired up siduction LXDE so I want to check Trollinger out, too.

No 64-bit for a while :) Simply too many things to do recently. But it will quite surely come sometime in the New Year.

Re: Trollinger (LXDE) Release Notes
Installed with zero issues!
Fantastic work!
One question though (as usual) when I lock the screen by clicking on the padlock icon the screen goes black...OK...but how do I get to unlock to get back to the desktop?

Re: Trollinger (LXDE) Release Notes
That one is tricky: enter your password and hit Enter :) By the way, there's an invisible widget near the network icon and the redshift-bulb, right-click into this space and you will find a pop-up menu that has a simple screen blanking option. Hope you can find it :)

Re: Trollinger (LXDE) Release Notes
I just have installed Trollinger on my desktop and It is amazing! Installed with no problems in about ten minutes. I really like the dark theme. It has just enough contrast to keep things from running together. Excellent work, thank you very much.
