NOX: Boring (i686) Release News

Unread post by machinebacon » Sat Mar 01, 2014 4:48 am

A new base release, yeeeey! Okay, no reason to be enthusiastic, because this is plain ole Debian Wheezy. Yep, da grill goes stable. Boring? Fuck yeah.

Anyway, this is built from a bootstrapped system with all BBQ goodness included. The framebuffer session can be manually started with fb. Set it up with the fonts you like. Apart from that, this is really just tmux and some productivity tools. Installable as usually via (sudo) 'bbqinstaller'

login: bbq/bbq or root/bbq

The good news is: exactly 200MB ISO size (check before you d/l, sourceforge was shaky today), so it installs to something around 648MB on your drive.

Hmm, Debian Wheezy you say? The sources.list says Jessie... though I may be missing something here...

Indeed. This _is_ wheezy, but the sources.list says Jessie, so an upd/upg would upgrade, and an ins would install a partial upgrade. Should I change the ISO and reupload?

OK, I see. I'll just change the sources.list to Wheezy before I do anything... I'd like it to stay Wheezy, not for stability's sake (well, not entirely), but so that updates are a bit less frequent :)

Actually it's more than the sources.list, e.g

apt-cache policy libc6
Installed: 2.17-97
Candidate: 2.17-97

i686 only, amd64 image looks fine.

^ It was built with debootstrap plus BBQ tools, so this came from upstream as it is. Season to your liking.

General notice:
Closed. We are sick and tired of discussions in the release news. Those who want to find the ISO will know where to find it. For bug reports open a new thread. Thanks.
