VARIOUS: Chunghwa (686PAE) Release News

Before you download, please be advised that this is a Chinese localized remaster!

It's my pleasure to announce the immediate availability of LinuxBBQ Chunghwa, featuring the 686PAE kernel in version 3.13. This edition features four tiling window managers (dwm, cwm), but with strong focus on SpectrWM and i3. The iBus input method is preinstalled with pinyin support. Apart from that, the edition is using CLI applications where possible to enable a comparably low dependency count. Unfortunately, iBus pulls in gtk packages and libraries, so this is not a 100% pure no-GTK version.

The shortcuts for the menus are placed on Alt-F1,F2 and F3, opening 9menu, gmrun and dmenu respectively. Of course, these shortcuts can be changed by editing the respective configuration files. They can also be found in the bbq login manager.

LinuxBBQ hopes to cater to those users who don't need a full desktop environment. If you want to have automatically updating point-and-click menus, please choose the existing Chinese localized distributions like Ubuntu Kylin, CDlinux, Linux Deepin etc.

The ISO is comparably large with 536MB, due to the full localization and the added fonts and the IME, and it expands to 1.5GB when installed. To install LinuxBBQ, please open a terminal and enter "sudo bbqinstaller", and create a new user after logging in as root.
