NOX: Turtle Soup (686) Release Notes

Unread post by machinebacon » Mon Jul 14, 2014 11:31 pm

This is what actually should be "Summer Lite", as 686 version. Don't ask for 64-bit, there won't be one. "Turtle Soup" is noX/framebuffer, so you have to grab the xserver and x11-tools.

What it does:
- boots straight into the installer (TTY1)
- there is a /bin/bash on TTY2 running

What is contains:
- kernel 3.15 by siduction
- the usual suspects (bbqtools)
- printfile (thanks to GekkoP) + lprng
- mountpy for one-click mounting
- ntfs-3g/fuse

What changed:
- added tmux-powerline and tmux-mem-cpu-load
- added GNU screen
- removed parted, use resize2fs/mke2fs instead (to ensure ext3 support) and READ THE MANPAGES
- removed moc, added cplay
- removed wordgrinder, replaced by mcedit
- removed calcurse, replaced by wyrd
- removed youtube-dl, shell-fm
- added jabber/xmpp support for irssi
- added synaptics touchpad rules for udev

Who needs it:
- anybody who wants to build up from TTY
- those who wanted to install Summer 2014 but haven't done so, yet

ISO size 230MB, at sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxbbq/files/2014/
..gnutella..
