WMFS2: Monkeys! (586)

Unread post by machinebacon » Fri Jan 01, 2016 12:25 pm

It's the year of the monkey, so the first release of the year shall carry this name. Amen.

Monkeys is based on LinuxBBQ Anorexia with just a handful of selected CLI applications (see scrot!)

You will have a lot of fun if you like editing WM configs. The real nice thing is that WMFS2 reconfigures on the fly (Ctrl-Mod-r), so no need for recompiling or even leaving the X server.

For your convenience I post the README.txt here

Code: Select all

Welcome to LinuxBBQ Monkeys!

Application launchers:
Mod-Return......terminal
Mod-Esc.........bbqexit logout manager
Mod-F1..........bbqapps CLI launcher
Mod-F2..........OSD info (date, time, sysinfo)
Mod-F3..........dmenu launcher
Mod-F9..........start/stop playstream
Mod-F10.........volume -
Mod-F11.........volume +
Mod-F12.........toggle mute
Mod-Print.......take scrot with little delay and open in feh

Please refer to ~/.config/wmfs/wmfsrc and wmfs manpage for a complete list of WM-specific keybindings.

Default applications:
ceni............network configurator (root)
mc..............file manager
mcedit/nano.....editors
cmus............music player
tinyirc.........IRC client
links...........web browser
git.............revision control system
tinyradio.......radio player
playstream......plays/stops last chosen tinyradio stream
alsamixer.......volume mixer
dkeger..........Xresources theme picker
bbqexit.........exit manager
bbqpkg..........package management tools
bbqsnapshot.....remastering tool
bbqinstaller....OS installer

Configuration of wmfs happens in ~/.config/wmfs/wmfsrc
Autostart configuration happens in ~/.xinitrc
Upload is in progress, you will find the release in the main 2016 folder:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxbbq/files/2016/

Sure, and here I just got my Violator install setup.

This WM looks so much like my old Xmonad, now I just have to try this.

Thanks for the New Year gift.

I guess I should post this somewhere.
I had some issues resizing windows/tiles. The windows frame moved, but the windows stayed the same, and I got confused.

So, after resizing, hit enter, and it will pop into place.
That might be obvious to you, but well... I am me.

Simon and snap, I agree too. I've been playing around with it since the release and it has made me forget about i3.

And it still works, almost... I just stole the entire /etc/apt dir from anorexia, and it seems to work now.
(I won't say that is how anyone should do it... but... oh well)
