@zengrapefruit, welcome back :)

Thanks for using this, I try to find a quick fix for your problems:

1) does sounds work with "tinyradio", for instance? if no, please open alsamixer and check if the PCM or Master channels are unmuted. If the music plays in "tinyradio": do you use flashplugin for youtube or HTML5? By all means, open a new thread in the SUPPORT section and post your lspci -nnk so we can check if something has to be blacklisted or modprobe'd.
2) to make the keyboard layout stick, edit ~/.xinitrc and change the entry "setxkbmap us" to "setxkbmap gb &" (I think it is GB for you). If this is still not working, add the same line to your Openbox autostart file.
3) dkeg is one of our grillmeisters who created a bunch of beautiful Xcolors for the terminal. Run "dkeger" in terminal to change the color theme.

This spin looks splendid! I am grabbing a copy now. It has been awhile since I have spent good amounts of time on a BBQ release, I feel this one is suitable to get me back in the groove.

Curious what panel is installed in this. Hadn't seen application tabs on Openbox panel (if there is a default panel) in any other version.

Also wanted to say nice upg status % bar in terminal. Haven't seen that even in heavy desktops before... Obvious and not hidden in text or unknown percent half the time.
Thank You!

^ Openbox (unlike fluxbox or blackbox) doesn't have a default panel. Space oddity uses use tint2. Many other distros use this as well. lxpanel and fbpanel are also often used with openbox.

tint2 can be configured by editing ~/.config/tint2/tint2rc. Changes will not take effect until you kill and restart tint2.

Actually there should be "Edit tint2rc" or something like that in root menu -> Settings -> Edit...

If not, then just manually edit as pidsley said. If you fuck it up, there's a backup in /etc/skel/ from where you can copy stuff back to the user's home.

And yes, welcome to the world of no-nonsense computing :)

Back in Space Oddity where no one can hear me scream. Done with my basic configging for keeping my box lean and clean. So what now?
