way cool.
I'm carving out time for a real install.
One of the reasons (well 2) I came to Debian was one-stop shopping and rolling release.
Time to get rid of my *untu image.... (chosen for eye candy)
XFCE is a great chioce.

Yep, dd'ing is the way to go (or you can cat it, cat /path/to/bbq.iso > /dev/usb_raw_device_node, which does the same).
sync should make sure that all data is sent and the pipe is emptied. Good luck. Famous last words: "k gonna reboot again"

^ I use unetbootin. (from the distros) Edit: I meant from the repos.
I *think* you need to install syslinux, but it doesn't know it.

You're right, hinto - syslinux or extlinux.

It was a "head scratch-er" to figure out why it worked on Windows and not Linux, until I noticed that nugget. I wonder why it isn't a required package.

I assume because if you use anything else than ext* (or ext2?) as filesystem for the stick, you don't need it. But I agree, it should be more than just recommended, especially considering the minimal file size of it.
But we know how Debian handles suggests/recommends/depends - see the evolution-bloat on GNOME3 or the gnome-icon-theme for network-manager. (etc etc)

right... if you install gnome (or even gnome-terminal) these days, they really, really, really, really want you to use evolution (which is hit or miss in the corporate world).

did I say reall?
