OPENBOX: Penbang i6868 Release News

Unread post by machinebacon » Sat May 25, 2013 3:27 am

Penetration testing behind the grill? Say yes to "Penbang"! Penbang is a set of tools, collected by mad_dev (A'mmer Almadani) and now ported to the grill. Found it over at http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=26348 so I added the Penbang tools, removed the GIMP, the Office Suite, Transmission and the FTP frontend and put it on an ISO on top of a standard Darkside/Waldorf.

Here's the result:

Code: Select all

wget -c http://linuxbbq.org/releases/Darkside/home/snapshot/linuxbbq-penbang32.iso
md5sum: 40112ce4c41174046aaca755dc88e5f2 linuxbbq-penbang32.iso
Username: bbq
Password: bbq

If you have ideas on how to improve Penbang (which is pretty much perfect right now!) please do it either here, or at the linked forums thread, or at the developers sourceforge page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/penbang/

Happy penetrating, my shady friends :)

cool man. Wish I had this around while I was in school! I'm really looking forward to my life settling down a bit for some free time to just mess around and truly enjoy all the grill has to offer. Maybe this will begin to take traction as a nice alternative to BackTrack.

It's not fully developed yet, it seems, but the collection of apps there is impressive. Might want to slim it down a bit (on the Darkside side) to make it a bit lighter and really specialized in penetration only ;) Have written the guy who wrote the script, let's see what he has to say about it :)

Hey,

First of all, thank you very much for adopting penbang.

Things to look for in the next release.

1- CallerPy -- A python script that utilises the truecaller API. (Social Engineering)
2- Simple-XOR -- Text-Encryption(Email) based on the XOR Logic Gate (I.G.C)
3- OpenVAS -- (Vulnerability Assessment/Exploits)
4- PyLOIC -- Low-Orbit-Ion-Cannon;DDOS (Vulnerability Assessment/Exploits)
5- SoNeVi -- Social Network Visualizer. A Twitter follower Node viewer/multiple levels. (Social Engineering)

and hopefully many more...

*I will include an update script

Any additional tools to consider?

Hi,

yeah, forgot to tell you that I added OpenVAS from the sid repos, so it is included already.

No need to hurry, remixing the next version just takes 2-3 hours :)

Gave you "highlight" on the sourceforge page.

Updates:

1- I finished callerpy. I didn't use truecaller's API; never got a response for my request. Instead I used parsing libraries: httplib2, bs4, twill to emulate the browser experience. You will need twitter credentials to use it.
Here is the link for the procedure. https://sourceforge.net/p/penbang/discu ... /b13f3eb1/
Here is a snapshot of callerpy in action.(http://penbang.sysbase.org/img/callerpy.png)

2- I wrote Simple-XOR a few months ago and is actually ready for use, it just needs a bit of "tuning"

3- OpneVAS, already added by machinebacon; however it is still not available in version 0.0.2 of penbang(sourceforge)

4- PyLOIC...Almost done.

5- SoNeVi; here is an example of it(http://techuff.com/demo/twitter/netvi/netvi.html). I might not include it seeing as it has little relevance to pen-testing.

Before updating penbang(sourceforge), I will post a link of the new version here.

Nice Bacon. I've just been chatting with mad_dev about this package of tools, and I'll be trying it out. Interested in this CallerPy and Loris IPv6 implementation.

Time to give 'er the O face. O, O, Ohhh....

So far so good with a hd install on my ramshackle toshiba.
Haven't updated to 0.0.3 yet. I'll report back if I run into any issues - though it must be said this'll be a machine dedicated to constant bbq switching.
Many thanks to mad_dev and MB.

Hey,

I've been off grid of late; interacting with the mundane activities of life.

Next release:

ADDED
# WPScan
# w3af
# Tor Bundle----although mentioned in version 0.0.3 README, I forgot to include it
# Patator
# grSecurity Kernel Patch
# CrackLib
# xplico
# OWASP Mantra
# zaproxy
# sqlmap
#
# FIXED
# Crunch function in Scripts.py
# Removed message of the day---stupid idea
# Changed update naming
# Callerpy---It's been down for a while

I would very much appreciate suggestions on tools to add.

Thanks MB for the 5 star rating.

Cheers,
Mad_Dev
