Clit (amd64) Release Notes

Unread post by machinebacon » Fri May 31, 2013 8:29 am

For those who don't care too much about X servers and the decoration, here's LinuxBBQ Clit (acronym stands for Clit lives in ttys)

What is a Clit?

A small, portable, fast and light operating system with a shitload of tools to get (literally) everything done in a tty:

- Office applications (word processor, document converter, spreadsheet, calculator, notebook, timezone watch, calendar, todo-list, personal information manager, note-taking)

- Network applications (mail client, newsreader with pod-catcher, web browsers, torrent client, IRC chat, instant messenger, identica/twitter client, VPN tools)

- Accessories (text editors, hex editor, process monitor, file managers)

- Admin tools (repair grub, check ACPI, smxi, inxi, testdisk, cfdisk, gdisc, parted, generic password crackers, ZIP cracker, PDF cracker, WEP/WPA cracking utils, WPS PIN cracker)

- Games (from adventure to wump, 25 all in all)

- Multimedia (radio, music player, last.fm player, TV player [needs fbdev])

- System Hospital (sets timezone, fixes soundcards, repairs the grub)

- All these tools are housed in bbqstart, an intuitive menu.

As you can see, this is a perfect rescue system that runs perfectly fine from USB stick (live). If you bork your main computer, use Clit to fix it again ;) Put Clit on a 256MB (or larger) stick and take it with you to fix Windows computers or use it as completely anonymous fapping station (yes, xlinks2/w3m support images)

Code: Select all

ok rubbed the CLIt a bit, real nice, but minor typos /leftovers;'
'bbq' on it's own, is outdated.
'bbq' text says - 'cli-installer', when it's 'bbqinstaller'
(very nice menu BTW, typing 'live-installer' reboots immediately (obviously not gonna work in fb)
'start' doesn't do anything, 'bbqstart' invokes menu.
typing ' dvtm' didn't seem to so anything.
so i installed, installed grub, hasn't changed anything about the installed OS'sl list, which is handy, just surprising..
reinstalled grub on MATE updated, CLit is recognised.
works spot on, looking forward to working it over.

After installing clit as root, I noticed some issues. Seems like I had to use Bbqstart to fix my grub after doing Bbq installer. Also, I wasn't sure if the bbqinstaller was supposed to exit while creating the fstab, since I never got a confirmation if the fstab was successfully created.

Anyway, I now have it installed to my system and wondering how I could implement those sexy tmux confs found on the clit iso.

Daresay, this release is mighty groovy

Hello wux,
thanks for the pointers, but:
I'm very very sure that the documentation at startup says "bbqstart" (very very very sure, see description)
Anyway, CLIt is not meant to be installed (rescue system, see description) but of course you can do whatever you like with it ;)

Hello Victor,
no, it shouldn't exit at creating fstab, I've fixed it yesterday night and will push a fixed ISO tomorrow.
