LinuxBBQ is happy to announce the immediate availability of StudEx, a desktop suite aimed at university students and faculty. This release is based on Debian Sid, featuring the 3.9-5 Liquorix kernel. After installation, a number of additional applications can be installed via the bbq-welcome script: the Mendeley Desktop, Abiword with Gnumeric, the LibreOffice Suite, and support for CUPS . Preinstalled applications include:

- XFCE4 desktop with Thunar as File Manager
- Iceweasel (release channel) with AdBlock and Zotero Plugin enabled
- Icedove Mail Client
- WINE/PlayOnLinux for seamless integration of some Windows software
- TeX Live with a handful of additional packages (-science, -pictures, etc.)
- Lyx WYSIWYG fronted for LaTex
- Bibus Reference organizer
- Referencer Document organizer
- Pybliographer Tool for manipulating bibliographic databases
- KeepNote
- Zim Desktop Wiki
- Osmo Organizer
- Evince Document Viewer
- Xournal PDF Notebook
- Turnin Assignment Manager
- Dr. Geo Math Tool
- Speedcrunch Scientific Calculator
- Gnome Mplayer
- Openshot Video Editor
- Pidgin Instant Messenger Client
- Deluge Bittorrent Client
- Vym Mindmapping Tool
- gFTP FTP Client
- 25 CLI (Terminal) applications and 25 CLI games

Quickstart:

After installation and reboot, open a terminal, maximize it, and run bbq-welcome. It will run Ceni to set up your network. Please update the local cache if asked, then install the additional apps if needed (Mendeley Desktop is warmly recommended!)
