LinuxBBQ Bauchspeck is the GNOME3 edition in the series. The alpha version works 'surprisingly' well, so November will see a release of Bauchspeck Beta 1, with a number of minor bugfixes and the introduction of a new installer routine.

LinuxBBQ is pleased to announce the immediate availability of LinuxBBQ "Bauchspeck", featuring the GNOME desktop in version 3.4.2 - this is the RC 1, a 64-bit edition based on Debian sid with the 3.6.2 kernel from siduction and fully compatible to Debian.

"Bauchspeck" is the perfect system for users to build on. It comes with no extra packages, no nonsense and no bloat. It follows the BBQ philosophy of "Roast Your Own" where the user can decide which packages serve which purpose. The integrated build tool help users to create a fully working hybrid ISO to share with others.

Optional: We recommend beginners to install the gnome-control-center first to make configuration easier (sudo apt-get install gnome-control-center) To add shell extensions, visit http://extensions.gnome.org

Additional software shipped contains:
- BBQ tools (BBQ Menu, BBQ Hospital, BBQ Upgrade Weather Warnings, BBQ Cookbook, etc)
- Mirage (Image viewer)
- gtkVNCviewer (VNC client)
- Geany (IDE)
- CLI applications (bc, mc, ranger, irssi, elinks-lite, orphaner, newsbeuter, vim.tiny, etc)

Known bugs (all minor):
- BBQ Cookbook is only packaged for the sake of completeness but does not refer to "Bauchspeck" only - it is nevertheless a useful resource for users.
- icon set 95% complete -> The missing icons will be replaced with similar ones (use the /usr/share/applications/ desktop entries)
- LightDM doesn't play well with Gnome3, so shutdown/reboot may or may not work when picked from the LightDM screen. Simply apply "sudo reboot" or "sudo shutdown -h now" in a terminal - the final version will include gdm3 and a specially designed theme.
