Ok, I've been reading almost every single notes of the various BBQs. I'm fine with my Debian netinstall, but now that I'm in love with Sid I need something to replace CrunchBang with. I'll go with this one, maybe put i3 on it and see how far I can get.

I'd recommend "Pidsley" (as it's a hint newer and even lighter on GTK), you can add i3 to the wmchooser (our Display Manager replacement) quite easily. But yeah, do whatever you like :)
"Pidsley" includes Karmen as WM, of course, already.

Yes, "Pidsley" is another one I was looking at (as well as few others, man, too much of a choice here!). I'll update you with my moves ;)

Oh, wait a sec. This is i686 and I'm on 64bit at the moment. Well, whatever, I just want this Elektra so bad I'm going with it anyway.

I don't use 4gb RAM (I never did, actually) but I've always been an amd64 user because of that old "64bit and you'll get all your 4gb!" saying.

sudo apt-get install linux-image-siduction-686-pae linux-headers-siduction-686-pae
Problem with mega-RAMz solved.

Ok, Elektra from live-USB working fine (and damn is beautiful).
I did:

Code: Select all

sudo bbqinstaller
And the bbqinstaller is there on my uxterm. Yeah.
Now, one question before going down the deep end: is there a way to tell bbqinstaller NOT to format my /home partition? I told bbqinstaller I already had a partition ready for Elektra, so no parted here. I chose ext4 for both / and /home but now it's warning me it's going to format to ext4 both / and /home.

Doesn't Elecktra come with the live installer? I think it does (double check me...I don't remember how I've installed what). I'd use that for the sake of simplicity.

Yes, I already found it and I'm writing this from Roaster and my new Elektra installation. So happy!
Wireless working fine. Emacs24 already installed. urxvt ready to rock. And I'm happy, but I think I've already said that.

Ok, quick feedback if I may.
I am really, really satisfied with this Elektra. I got everything I need on it now and everything works great:

i3 4.6? All good.
Wireless? b43 running smoothly and quicker than before. Ceni rules. (thanks xaos52)
Wireless network printer? Piece of cake.
Autologin+startx via systemd? Done (thanks Pidsley).
Automounting usb and cdrom? Noob stuff, already done.
...

Never before this Dell Inspiron 1525 have been so fast. So thanks machinebacon for this release.
