Re: Rice (amd64) Release News
I have full intention of continuing the tutorial for reaching "Emacs Knight" status. Perhaps one day I'll ascend to "Master" status, and then I will be able to C^x C^s with my mind.
I'll add this release to the first post, since Sauce & Rice are similar in lots of ways. The paths to enlightenment are many.

Re: Rice (amd64) Release News
"squire" is the term for someone who can at least kill&yank a line, move without arrows, and save/close/open a file. Honestly, when I first picked it up...I force myself to write a whole program from cli using a sheet of paper with the hotkeys written on it. About 1000 lines of working code later, I had it. The best way to adapt to anything is to take all other options away until you have it. That's how I'm trying to learn vim right now. My Perverted Elektra has been a big help on that. I've been neglecting her since Sauce, but I'll be back on top of her in a few days for sure.

goodness i thought you had actually written a program *on paper* - that would be hardcore, but how could it help learn emax?DebianJoe wrote:.I force myself to write a whole program from cli using a sheet of paper with the hotkeys written on it. About 1000 lines of working code later, I had it.
like a cheat sheet - yes very good idea.
Re: Rice (amd64) Release News
I approve of this release, although I hold X in high regard when it comes to adding more oomph to emacs.
Framebuffer is all well and good, but a lot of magic can be done with X in your pocket.
And lets be honest. Dropping to emacs will make any CLItter well up.
