XFCE: Wifey (amd64) Release News

Unread post by machinebacon » Thu Aug 15, 2013 5:05 pm

Love your wifey! Download this for her and show her how special she is (actually).

Wifey is an amd64 XFCE4.10 desktop built on the Bakewell 64 Base. Included applications, atypically, are Chromium 28 Web Browser, Sylpheed Mail Client, Pidgin Instant Messenger, VLC media player, Mirage Image Viewer, Fotoxx Photo Management, running on the 3.9-8 kernel from Siduction (to ensure best hardware support for wireless chipsets).

Additionally, the Broadcom staging driver and the BCM firmware is installed, hopefully this will satisfy the users.

CLI applications have widely been removed and the XFCE menu is cleaned up.

The gksu package is not installed, please add it if you need a graphical frontend for the su command. Else, to install: open a terminal and run

Code: Select all

sudo live-installer
amd ignore any debugging info in the terminal window.
