And it still fits on a CD! Hey, it's got the Adobe Replacement Suite, too. :D

this looks really nice, turned out my own xfce install, mimics your XFCE64.

Ah, looks like the male counterpart to Wifey. I will download and run this over the weekend, perhaps rekindle some love for Xfce.

Nice one Jules. Test ran the live tonight while the wife went out for dog and cat food. It was good. Also see the numix dark theme in there, cool! Good job on it.

Testing Pompous, I like it. Nice, clean Xfce setup. Idles at about 180MB.

Thanks Drew,
that's your Dark version, hehe. I set Numix Light as default because Ambiance/Radiance causes some apps to segfault (though it shall be compatible)
In the past you watched porn when the sife went out for dog food, but recently... well :) Nothing is sexier than discovering a new spin :)

Thanks Bone(r)s,
sure we can squeeze some RAM out of her. Check "bbqblame" to see if you want to get rid of some services. Also, there's the weather applet, you can remove it if no need.

I think 180MB is entirely reasonable for a full-featured Xfce 64-bit setup, btw. Sure, I could squeeze more out of it, but it's pretty sweet just the way it is.

It's not, it's not :) The number of installed packages shall not have any impact on the RAM usage after boot, so I'd recommend looking into what eats up RAM. I suppose it's the udisks2/upower/systemd trilogy that weighs heavy, although it should actually replace some stuff under the hood (policykit springs to mind). Maybe upgrading to experimental systemd is an idea - don't do it if you don't dare to. If I have time I try to break her.

Correct, no bloated Display Manager needed anymore.
You can make autologin work - check the forums "HOWTO" section, there's a guide written by Pidsley on "autologin to console and start X"
It's a matter of 2 commands, copy-paste, nothing serious.

wuxmedia, thanks for the link.

however, on reboot I got stuck on this line display on screen
[ 14.699039] ALSA hda_intel.c:997 hda_intel: azx_get_response timeout, switching to single_cmd mode: last cmd=0x00070503

it just hang up there.
once I hit <enter> it proceeds and allows me to login, startx..

after successfully login and get on the forum, I checked dmesg and these are the last two lines
[ 14.699039] ALSA hda_intel.c:997 hda_intel: azx_get_response timeout, switching to single_cmd mode: last cmd=0x00070503
[ 15.231813] input: HDA ATI HDMI HDMI/DP,pcm=3 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:05.2/sound/card1/input13

help!

BTW, it is pretty!
ram usage reading from htop: 174M.
and it boots up a few computers!! leaving one that is forever kernel panic, may be just kernel 3.9.8 issue.
some well known distros could not boot a few of my old computers!
