MATE: Solyanka (i686) Release News

Unread post by machinebacon » Tue Oct 08, 2013 3:08 pm

LinuxBBQ Solyanka - i686 (non-PAE) features the MATE desktop
environment in version 1.6.0 and comes with the newest kernel v. 3.11-4
Apart from the MATE specific tools (Atril, Caja, Emgrampa, eog), this
edition includes all known BBQ GUI tools as well as GNOME media player
(featuring mplayer2) and audacious as audio player.

Users are advised to use 'ceni' to set up the network
connection. Solyanka can be installed via the "Install LinuxBBQ" entry
in the System section of the menu.

Please also take a look at the .xbindkeysrc file, which can be disabled
in .xinitrc if wished so. Quick shutdown is put on "Ctrl + Escape" by
default, there are - due to the lack of a display manager - no
one-click reboot and shutdown entries in MATE's menus.

The username and password for the live session is "bbq".

Nice!

I am not a huge fan of Mate, but I installed this anyway... and was impressed. Will keep it going for a week or so to see if it can convert me.
