HERBSTLUFTWM: Buffalo (i686) Release News

Unread post by machinebacon » Sat Oct 12, 2013 11:56 am

Herbstluftwm a standalone release? You think it's boring? Uninteresting? Keep on reading!

The base is the latest "Honey" release, but what makes Buffalo special is the 'EditorBuffet'. Inspired by johnraff's post here -> http://linuxbbq.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?f ... 173#p11173 I made a little script that leads the user through a bunch of terminal text editors. A lot of stuff to discover, and it actually forces the user to try them all, one after the other. If you finish the buffet, you get a cool reward at the end (cheaters can have a look into the script, meh)

For what it's worth, pressing Alt-F1 in herbstluftwm will open the EditorBuffet, Alt-F2 is bbqrun, Alt-F3 is dmenu, and Alt-F8 opens the live-installer.

GUI apps: roaster, live-installer
CLI apps: all those that are in honey plus around 15 editors.

Fun factor:
80%
Learning factor:
85%
Official rating:
80%
It's a bit larger than the previous spins, but herbstluftwm is fucking lite in RAM.
