CWM: Shark Fin (i686) Release News
"Shark Fin" is the newest offering on the grill, this time -- for the traditionalists -- with sysvinit as init system (replacing systemd and its cruft) and a lower dependency count. "Shark Fin" comes without gtk/qt applications, features cwm as window manager and can also run framebuffer sessions. "Shark Fin" will run on old and very old hardware, as long as i686 is supported.
This time mplayer2 and cruft (samba-libs, heimdal, etc) is removed. It is yet unsure if future releases will feature a video player; mplayer2, mpv and cvlc are in the repos.
The ISO size shrinks to 371MB, installable by entering "sudo bbqinstaller" in a terminal window (if 9menu doesn't display it)
Known bug (nothing serious):
- 9menu placement is always centered in cwm --> removing "-teleport" in .xbindkeysrc will solve this problem
- Xresources has no sexy color codes, please run 'dkeger' to set a nice terminal color scheme
Please keep in mind that "Shark Fin" is designed for more advanced or adventurous users, so stuff like automounting and keyrings have to be managed or installed by the user. This is fully compatible to the BBQ philosophy, so if you disagree with these design decisions, change them for yourself.

*Blah, blah...praising the wonders of cwm and sysv for sparse usage of hardware.*
So, are you sending the 9-menu bug-chain to the maintainer of the Linux port, or to the upstream BSD devs? Does it exist in BSD (anyone know?)

^ Was thinking the same, maybe it's not even cwm but 9menu's --teleport that doesn't work as expected (send the menu to where the mouse cursor is located)
Edit: yup, that's it -- removing the -teleport from the 9menu call in .xbindkeysrc solves the problem.

Great work!
My only problem is that I should be wearing my glasses for 9menu...

^ edit .9menurc and .xbindkeysrc, as stated in the release notes, and the /etc/motd.
Shouldn't be a problem actually. Nobody is forced to use the 9menu, because cwm coes with its own config file (which you can create as .cwmrc and put your menu items inside as stated in the manpage)

I did run it for a few minutes of usb today during lunch. very smooth spin. First experience with 9menu. Liked the vi like keybindings within the menu. Pretty cool. The built in menu w/in cwm is pretty slick though. works very well.
Just another positive about cwm.

The nice thing about 9menu is that once you have it configured you can use the same menu in any wm. It's perfect for gangbang, for example.
