machinebacon
Re: machinebacon
Sidux kicked butt, not much could compete at the time, imho. If it just had continued without internal issues :(
Someone told me that I am delusional, I almost fell off my unicorn.

Sir! Put down the hammer and slowly step away from the computer.

Re: machinebacon
as the file name suggests, it was a real PITA to put Debian on the macbook. rEFInd had to be run from a USB stick to disable some new protection shit that was introduced in El Capitan, but yeah... back on XFCE4 (greetings ivan!), fonts are Droid Sans and Droid Mono, Faenza Darkest icon theme, shearwater gtk theme ... I promise I'll BBQ it soon.

Wow! Debi on Mac! Good stuff! And I bet it was a PITA, lols!
Still, it looks great! If I were on my phone I would add the clapping hands and the thumbs up emoticon!

Re: machinebacon
thanks peeps. yeah it still is -- to be honest, with efi and all that modern shit I have to be a bit careful not to bork the bootloader. I'll probably just --hold those grub2-ish, efibootmgr-ish packages, and then ... well, and then what? chase the systemd/gtk3/<add random bloat here> trains?! :D
for the record, this was a netinstall, I did nothing more or less than opening non-free contrib, downloading xorg and xfce4 as metapackages. oh and there is lightdm as login manager, as I suppose(d) that not only me will use this computer, so no manual mounting of hfs+ partitions.
