Ah... another embarrassingly mundane scrot. IceWM with the winclassic2 theme on a Jessie netinstall with all of the systemd bloat that entails. Played with xcolors and the urxvt fonts to make it look like Windows98 but decided to just stick with what works for me font-wise and the default terminal colors (with a '#000000' background and '#999999' foreground).

I couldn't even say I'm making it this ugly for the nostalgia - I never used Win98 myself. (Heck, it came out when I was 3 mos. old.) It is endearing it it's own way, though.

Wow. Of course Windows looked always bad in those days.

Pretty close, yes. Only the fonts are quite different, try with Lucida. The taskbar is a bit off :D File manager could be xfe :D

My comfy, bloated Cardboard install with blackbox. Memory usage is high due to Fireweasel open in another workspace ;)

I "discovered" Cinderella (and more specifically Long Cold Winter) today. Pleasant discovery, if I do say so myself! Jeez, they have catchy choruses...

Alrighty, quick and ugly. Slackware's current branch with swm/wmutils (of course).

Having fun with Slackbuilds, strange but interesting having to do my own package resolution.

Code: Select all

bash4.2# removepkg /var/log/packages/*-4.14.3-*
cleaned most of the KDE cruft outta here. Of course, there are a ton of other libraries on here that I didn't catch in the install, and a df -h is showing 8G used w/o any of my personal files on here 0.o. I am considering embracing the bloat altogether, and pulling in Plasma 5.5.5 from AlienBOB's repos (I would have had to remove KDE4* anyway).

^ Looks good; that is a lot of disk used, but you have 60G to work with. :) What xcolors are you using there?

Look at that, beautiful! You can omit KDE entirely at install time. I usually do, anyway, unless I decide I want to torture myself with KDE for a while. :D

Thank you. Can you add this to our github, or do you mind if I do?

I use elkmountain quite a bit. I thought it was already on the github, but perhaps I am wrong.

EDIT: I am wrong.

Thanks, everyone :)

^^ Oh yes, you may! I don't believe my account (drchroot) is able to upload to the linuxbbq repos.
