Is it me or do the fonts have a haze around them

Funny that you mention that, I don't see it in that scrot but have seen mine get really pixelated around the font and sometimes the purple haze.

maybe some anti-aliasing - looks pretty tight for such a small size.
They're not bitmaps perhaps?

^ The way it ignores Xresources, it must be xfce4-terminal, tiled in i3. Rookie guess :D

env-info looks at ~/.xcolorselect which I didn't use.

well, they said it could never happen, it looks wrong and is a WiP but a light terminal & light GTK theme? After all that work!
well it's a funny shape because my dual monitors are like that, and the laptop screen is the white area on the bottom.
fonts look horrid ATM, and the pic is a bit oddly placed - i3 cols are wrong too, at least got rid of the shadow on the term windows

EDIT: OK forgot the main reason why?
Because instead of a dark bunker - I now work in a nice light room, so can't see a damn thing in the sunny weather, unless it's a Black on White scheme...

^^ yeah - it actually is, I've never had a light terminal since the Amiga days, even then it was dark grey (or dark blue..)

Just because, days are getting dimmer around here. slowly darkening the terminal.

i3, now with xfce-term because, I forget why now.
