Re: Chef presents 'Sir Scrotalot' a scrotactacular.
yeah SF is slow as fuck sometimes, 40kb/s is quite the standard, sometimes even <20/
I'll test this, even it's 64bit! Thanks a lot!

^ alway use sftp its going good now fingers crossed over 200k a sec up and less than 5 minnows remaining.
^^ tried on a couple machines with a couple old slow usbs and it wasn't horrible. :)
Was getting start and stalling and < than 20k a sec for awhile on SF.
damn have I made a mess of this thread

Re: Chef presents 'Sir Scrotalot' a scrotactacular.
might be a problem with the upload and/or my compression and decompress.
Ok after some close investigation looks like I got caught between my BSD and work buntu machine. I suspect it was using max compression switches since they are different on each machine. I am curious if one can decompress the other. I probably compressed and decompressed on the Net box and transferred to usb and took to work and was testing on the VM.
BTW did a default gzip and of coarse the file size is much larger. I tested this all on the buntu machine and am uploading again. Updated previous instructions to reflect command and file names.
Please hold till I can verify

Re: Chef presents 'Sir Scrotalot' a scrotactacular.
^^ first off big thanks for taking the time to install and post a scrot :D
the natives where getting restless so instead of fixing that /proc/cpuinfo bit I just put that string in.
Here is the fix.
down on the proc line where it says 'rw,noauto' make that just 'rw'
save and sudo mount -a
look for the cpu section and uncomment the first line of that and change the text between "Powered by Bacon" to "$cpu"
should be good to go I will post a scrot later showing some things I have done.
^ I knew someone would like that ;)

Re: Chef presents 'Sir Scrotalot' a scrotactacular.
This is the latest just to show its not really that crippled. And of coarse for the adventurist you can create a 4G slice/partition and take that .img and dd install it to the drive and point your grub to it :) (Ref: this thread on how and what needs to be done with grub http://linuxbbq.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1060 specifically steps 5 -7 )
Added wifi
packages added cmus, firefox and irssi.
there have been a handful of small script (colors.sh, fullscreen.sh) I have fixed if there is any interest I will post them.
Getting nothing but a heartbeat of a light off the usb.
edit added grub reference.
edit notes: You probably do not want to use REBOOT (I have a alias) with NetBSD use shutdown instead and at the end you will be asked to press a key to restart or poweroff.
CAVEATS
This command will stop the system without running any shutdown(8)
scripts. Amongst other things, this means that swapping will not be
disabled so that raid(4) can shutdown cleanly. You should normally use
shutdown(8) unless you are running in single user mode.
