^ I can give it a try later this week. Something called 'work' is consuming my time and the planning is a complete mess. Sometimes I wish that the mob should taking the lead over it, after all they are organised :)

Yeah, not only the Germans have funny words like 'kladderadatsch' :D
It is Xubuntu to keep it 'familyfriendly', and for me it's still an improvement (it was shiped with windows 8). But I didn't like the standard colours from the terminal and Xchat, so with a little tweaking it's more in tune.. at least for me :)

^ I totally understand, Xubuntu is not a bad flavour at all. I used to be a fan and supporter of Ubuntu back when Linux was still normal (pre-GTK3, pre-upstart), and the first thing I do with new *buntu installations: remove the zeitgeist package and enjoy the gain in speed. Not sure if people really need continuous indexing of all their activities. ;)

Well said mb, Most of the Linux devs, geeks or whoever made something new or bloat the old ones have lost the Unix philosophy vibe "do one thing and do it well".

...But there are always others who care or remained faithful to KISS principle.

That's Xubuntu looks minimal, remind myself once on Linux Mint 4 years ago.

Mixing Desktop Managers is never a good idea (I was told a long time ago).
But my girlfriend is in Norway and that means that I have some sparetime.
It just a monster created in VBOX to confuse newbees and breaking stuff is fun :)
Minimal LXDE, replaced openbox by oroborus (it's lighter and capable to use the xfce greybird theme)
Replaced lxpanel by xfce4panel and installed the elementary dark icons.
