.vim/colors

Unread post by machinebacon » Sat May 31, 2014 5:00 pm

We have .vimrc and Xresources threads, why not one for vim colors?

Right now I use this one in dark: https://github.com/morhetz/gruvbox

gruvbox does look pretty nice. Believe it or not, I usually don't use a color. But when I do, it is seoul256 or wombat.

I personnally built a theme that uses ONLY the colors from my X ressources, so that my vim colors always fit my terminal ones.

You could get it [in my repo](http://git.z3bra.org/cgit.cgi/dotfiles/ ... shblah.vim)

Using it now, works great. Hybrid can work well with the Xresources colors too sometimes, but mostly not, so now I'm gonna use this when there's no dedicated vim scheme for the terminal colors... :)

I have always used Xoria256 as long as I have used vim.

I think it goes well with most dark term colourschemes.

I have switched to desert256 with Summer, because the color scheme I created with X overrode pablo.

I'll update the post and add a screenshot, when I get a chance. - Updated 7/24/2014 - Hmmm, it looks much more vivid on my actual screen.

I came in here to post my modified wombat. Mr Hunts post for xoria256 caught my eye so I checked it out. Funny. It is a complete copy of wombat, except, without the green. Goes with my iron colors better, so I took that, and made the same color mods as I did in wombat. Don't get excited, the mods were just a few colors.

Came here to post a link to vimcolors.com
Nice to see that it put a capstone on the discussion. Learned about it today, only about a year late...
