for clarity, i believe it is called 'showmepink'? (the beautiful thing about these schemes, aside from their colors, is that you get to give them nice names :)

^ indeed, edited.
The other nice thing is choosing interesting pictures to get a nice colour range. 8)

okidoki, here is something for the enthusiasts among you (whoever feels the calling ;)...

found Wes Anderson movie color palettes online.
Image

used the marvelous (gtk2, it's nice though, and no idea if this can be done in the terminal) 'gcolor2' which has a colorpicker to pick the colors. here's the list:

Code: Select all

Moonrise Kingdom
#A6994A
#B7B9B6
#966C42
#C69A37
#C69A37

The Darjeeling Limited
#6399B1
#D26C21
#D38D25
#1E7F6B
#CF0A26

The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou
#C62B0C
#C58F1B
#D6A932
#47778B
#73959F

The Royal Tenenbaums
#DBBEB8
#6C5D77
#A1B2BA
#9F5A1D
#BA2715

Rushmore
#CB342B
#36273A
#375845
#D0A37A
#CFA05A
now, these schemes are obviously incomplete. i have no real thoughts on how to complete them, aside from doing some interpolation which i fear will look bad and deviate from the scheme too much. so, if somebody has the time and/or inclination, there are some nice palettes to be had here i think, especially cool if you know/like the movies.

P.S. Fantastic Mr Fox omitted because, well, I didn't really like it, so i didn't bother :)
use them as you like!

Wow :D

(very mini short info: you can use 'GNU Octave' to pick colors from an image -- youtube: gnu octave image processing, and/or of course also imagemagick)

It's like you're on the phone with Dell tech support!!

On-topic;
Dunno if it's been mentioned, but there's also gpick in most distro repos. Just launch, and use the "Palette from image" option. You can also play around with it's other bits and bobs.

@slob: yep, gpick has that option indeed. but of course i wanted to do a CLI option, and since imagemagick is so nice anyway it is good to have that for this solution.

Only issue is with man pages at the moment. Not easy to read.
