[SOLVED] Separate volume for MOC?

We don't support installations in VirtualBox, VMWare, qemu or others. We ignore posts about WINE, PlayOnLinux, Steam and Skype. We don't support btrfs, lvm, UEFI, side-by-side installations with GPT or dualboot with anything newer than Windows XP.
Google your problem first. Check the Wiki. Read the existing threads. It's okay to "hijack" an existing thread, yes! If your problem is not yet covered, open a new thread. To get the quickest possible help, mention the exact release codename in your post (uname -a is a good idea, too). Due to the lack of crystal balls, attach the output of lspci -nnk if you encounter hardware problems.

[SOLVED] Separate volume for MOC?
By default, when you press , or . in MOC, it adjusts the PCM volume, but that affects all other applications too (so, say I'm in-game, and I want to listen to music but still hear game sounds, I can't do it).
Is it possible to make MOC only adjust its own volume? I poked around in the config file, but it doesn't seem like it...

Re: Separate volume for MOC?
If you sacrifice a goat to ALSA it might work. :)
ArchWiki has a bunch of it - no linky as their servers are currently switching to Slackware (educated guess :D).

It's funny how we used to be able to do real stuff with rudimentary computers, but now we can't. -- ratcheer

Nope, you need this line:wuxmedia wrote:It seems the same with mplayer.
Code: Select all
softvol=1
In MOC I have no idea either, I did not really bother to find it. Let me take a look again, I saw some lines talking about volume but did not touch them.

Re: Separate volume for MOC?
I see this and put yes there but I am not sure what it does as I actually always use max volume in players:
Code: Select all
# Save software mixer state?
# If enabled, a file 'softmixer' will be created in '~/.moc/' storing the
# mixersetting set when the server is shut down.
# Note that there is a "hidden" 'Amplification' setting in that file.
# Amplification (0-200) is used to scale the mixer setting (0-100). This
# results in a higher signal amplitude but may also produce clipping.
Softmixer_SaveState = yes

Re: Separate volume for MOC?
Found it.
In MOC press x to change the mixer, there are three, Master, PCM and Software. Hell, it is documented in the help screen. ;)
Edit: With w you can toggle the software mixer.

Thanks, that did the trick! :) Didn't think it would be as easy as pressing a key, so didn't even check the help page (derp)
