Trollinger, howto unlock screen after typing mistake?

Unread post by Potatohead » Wed Jan 23, 2013 10:43 pm

First: Trollinger64 looks........drum rolls.....

But the question: the screen lock will turn the screen black, and give you back the screen when you type your username + password correctly.

But - if you (or a nosey colleague) made some typing mistakes on that black screen ...... you are lost!

[dir=ltr]How to get the normal screen back[/dir] from a blocked, black screen, after typing mistakes?
Thanks!

Wow, that was fast MB! OK, great combination of obscurity ("what the hell is this black screen?") with a password !

OK, I get it now...yet, for some reason this part in LXDE is tricky? . Pause and resume, the same problems. Pause --> machine stops --> on/off knowb blinks slowly (so far so good).

No how to resume? Push the on/off knob --> nothing happens. Well, sometimes it does. Seems to be a combination of pushing the button, wait, enter the password, press enter and wait. But I haven't quite found out what to do in what order?

I think it is push the on/off knob--> press enter --> give password --> press enter again.

I know this is an LXDE thing, I'm allmost there, must find out the last tricks....

BTW, I like Trollinger, it is really well thought out

Edit: I think it's all easier then I thought, both screen lock and pause: enter, password, enter. Plus a second of patience ... !

Now that's what I call an effective protection against curious people who want to circumvent a screen lock :D

Drew, remember the i3lock/xscreensaver situation? Screenlocks are the trolls of Linuxland.

yep, sure do. I actually found another type of solution with xautolock and i3lock. Think it might make a good wiki article.
