linuxbbq-pony_muncher

Unread post by hexon » Sat Oct 03, 2015 9:58 pm

I found a great distro .... "linuxbbq-pony_muncher"

http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxbb ... ox%20Base/

suits me very well and I would do it first on my laptop ....
but I saw some mistakes .... first mistake is invalid values in the terminal ....
when you enter sudo su then shows the correct value ......

more far I did not find fault ... oh .... erasing kernel requires a password which is "bbq", as usual, but this password is not working .....

I would like to do this distro fully Jessie ......

I have a question, if you worked on this distro more ?? The Version latter whether it ??

I would be happy working at it because I really responding and I like .....

you might get a moment and you'll see that there are errors ..... or can be prompted for me how to fix it ......

I've already done install on USB persistence and some looked ... tomorrow I will have more time .....

best Regards

Steve

I guess bork or popcorn would be the closest to a new pony muncher?
Umm, bork is newest I think.

I just read over pony muncher release, seems to be urxvt. Looks like locale issue. What do you have for locale? Type locale into the terminal, post the output

I merged the 3 topics to keep things clean.

The easiest is to edit ~/.bashrc and check the line starting with PS1 -- use the defaults:

Code: Select all

if [ "$color_prompt" = yes ]; then
    PS1='${debian_chroot:+($debian_chroot)}\[\033[01;32m\]\u@\h\[\033[00m\]:\[\033[01;34m\]\w\[\033[00m\]\$ '
else
    PS1='${debian_chroot:+($debian_chroot)}\u@\h:\w\$ '
fi

But seriously... take BORK! viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1924

Pony Muncher is from 2013. Please don't use it. It will break in the dist-upgrade. It is put in the "no support" section. We can't help you with it 2 years after release. Sid gets updates every 6 hours. Pony Muncher is too old. It was built before three big transitions, at a time when systemd and sysvinit were maintained differently in Debian. In the upgrade process, the Perl package will break (due to APT), and you have to fix these errors manually. You will have to decide if you want to take systemd or sysvinit or both. If you are new to Debian Sid, or new to Linux in general, expect a lot of manual work.

I will always update the Openbox releases (Darkside -> Pony Muncher -> Popcorn/Romantic Rapist -> Bork) every 6 months. A new Openbox release is due for Christmas 2015. So, take BORK! or wait until Christmas or build your own from a no-X base (Professional)

Yes - Download Bork!

I just upg'd 653 Mb of packages on Bork just now, I'm a bit sloppy about upgrading :)
