Please, bear with this noob. How you guys make those nice webm files the BBQ way... if there's any. Can you point me into the right direction? The forum search tool is not helping a lot, unless you want to see them all, which is nice anyway.

Thanks.

Pidsley's link is great if you are interested in recording your desktop! Also, check out the nixer's guide here for their Workflow Compilation in April.

---------

If you are interested in just plain making webms out of mp4 or avi files you have on your computer...

I have a folder in my bookmarks on FF dedicated to this... here is what I have to stave you over until somebody who knows what their doing can clarify things :)
start here -->
Great page on the InstallGentoo wiki: https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.ph ... ith_ffmpeg (Simple one liner. Also goes over some of the flags so you get a taste of what you are doing!)

b) Also, off of the ffmpeg website itself - https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/Encode/VP8 (similar to the wiki above, but more in detail. goes over bitrate and such.)

c) Even more in detail, http://www.webmproject.org/docs/encoder-parameters/

d) And a matrix of encoding options - http://wiki.webmproject.org/ffmpeg

Have fun :D

And if you are in no-X, you can use ttyrec (from the repos)

Sometimes the trees don't let you see the forest. I skipped that one. Thanks, pidsley.

@ Dr_Chroot & bacon: Thanks, guys. Juicy stuff. Got some home work to do now.
