Re: Installed k3b; "no optical device found"
Just installed Xfburn, I think it installed and burned the cd faster than k3b downloaded. Probably doesn't come as a surprise to anyone, k3b seemed to take like 20 minutes just getting all the files.
Still no idea what the problem was with k3b, but hey, I got something that burns plastic beer coasters, so I'm happy. Solved, I guess.
Edit; I'm using Mate, 64 bit.

That is correct. HAL is one of the many things that broke the "cb-exit" scripts.machinebacon wrote:@wux: Crunchbang Statler or Waldorf? I think (!) old Statler still used HAL and not udev, but I might be totally wrong.

Re: Installed k3b; "no optical device found"[solved]
machinebacon's code worked. Checked disc usage before removal, was 45%. After removal, went down to 41%. this is on a 10 gig partition.

Re: Installed k3b; "no optical device found"[solved]
Then remove the k* and libk* packages from the list above, as well as phonon, soprano and nepomuk packages manually, one by one, then get yourself deborphan, run sudo orphaner, and clean up :)
