Google your problem first. Check the Wiki. Read the existing threads. It's okay to "hijack" an existing thread, yes! If your problem is not yet covered, open a new thread. To get the quickest possible help, mention the exact release codename in your post (uname -a is a good idea, too). Due to the lack of crystal balls, attach the output of lspci -nnk if you encounter hardware problems.

Darkside installer blank partition table bug
Hello everyone, I'm a former arch user who's gotten sick of the AUR (i was just too lazy to automake an aur wrapper ok? :P) and returned to good ol' #!, only a bit spiced up. Would've picked lightside, but 32 bits are enough for me, thus I went for The Dark Side(TM). Nice ubuntuish installer and preconfigured redshift +a nice cli apps collection, but... the installer is lovely, only up the part where I am to choose an installation partition. There, no partition table appears (neither for the hd, nor for the usb stick i'm installing from). The boxes where the partitions and devices are normally presented are blank. To be sure, here's a screenshot. Mounted the partition I wanted to install on, no use. Anyone else having experienced the bug?

Re: Darkside installer blank partition table bug
Hello, it's not a bug in the installer, but the launcher.
Open a terminal, enter
and ignore output there. Simply go through the GUI install process. gparted will show up.

BTW It's also stated in the release notes: http://www.linuxbbq.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=317 and http://www.linuxbbq.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=340
Open a terminal, enter
Code: Select all
sudo live-installer

Don't blame you for not having seen them, fact is that shit should work out of the box, and the wrong entry in the menu is my bad. Sorry for the confusion.username: bbq / password: bbq
Install with "sudo live-installer"
..gnutella..
Re: Darkside installer blank partition table bug
thanks for the quick response. In fact, I searched for the installer file briefly to try what you advise, though it was late at night and did not have the patience to finish the task. Anyway, thanks again and congrats for this handy respin.
